Took about an hour today of pressure washing to get the mud off the P1K5. While spraying around the right rear wheel I had to do a 'double take'. The limiting strap of the 814 shock was NOT connected at the top. Looking closer I found the top metal bracket that attaches to the bolt had failed. Hopefully I will be able to get just ONE single replacement strap.

I got some of these before takeover and put them through their paces a little at tackett. They are better than stock but I can’t figure out how to adjust them to deal with the bigger rocks. I felt like I was on a trampoline. What settings do you run @BigOL3 ?

When I first put them on about 2 yrs ago, they seemed to be a huge improvement over stock. Not sure if they have faded or the new just wore off to me, but now I am back to REadjusting them, trying to find that sweet spot. At T.O. I lowered R to 5 and upped C to 4 and it surely got better, but not what I was looking for.

I've recently been considering buying a set of 814 shocks. I'm hoping that they will work quite a bit better than stock for my trail rides.

It must be a design flaw, I thought I was the only one but now that I see there are more people breaking in the same spot there is an issue.

I really like my 814's but needing to run a limit strap is the down fall of this setup (I would anyways because of my portals and 35s), for this exact reason. By not running the limit strap you could damage the shock at full droop, these machines have limited travel so that happens all the time.....

So you all would recommend the 814 over other options? I currently have a P1k5 deluxe. Trying to improve the harsh ride. Mostly ride slow 10 to 15 in TN and then 25 to 30 in Florida sand and mud.

I’d recommend Fox or Elka over 814’s. Fox is about the same price as 814 and no limit straps needed.

Yeah, I was thinking I was the only one with the problem too ........ lol. Either design flaw are poor quality metal. I have already wondered IF my RR shock my have unseen damage since I have obviously used it without the strap being attached?

At this point I can not recommend. For the first year they seemed great, but lately have NOT. I was making small adjustments while at the T.O. and there was surely an improvement, but never did find the sweet spot. After I get another strap, I will do some more adjustments and hopefully be satisfied.
