Since the weather has been s***ty I have just been dinking around with stuff for the R/C’s. Got some pod lights and the wheels my kid picked out installed on hers:

Pretty neat, they run off a free channel on the receiver so you can turn them on and off from the radio by pushing a button. I ordered some fancier ones for mine, only to find I had to f***ing build them….

Finally got to get out and play toy trucks this evening since the weather decided to cooperate for a bit. New JConcepts Tusk tires and the lights were pretty cool!

Hopefully I can try these goofy competition pin tires on the same rock trail tomorrow. They are really narrow and probably the softest tire compound I’ve ever seen:

Vanquish Optic kit I ordered back in early January showed up Tuesday. It comes with a random set of colored panels, or if you're really lucky a set of carbon fiber panels; I ended up with green, meh. Been building it while I watch King of the Hammers over the last few days:

The steering setup is cool. They came up with a mock hydraulic setup which keeps the steering linkage out of the rocks:

My 3D-Printed PLA shock stand is a bit worse for wear after living on a shelf in the shed for a couple years, but still gets the job done:

I dyed the cage this brown/bronze color trying to make it look like an old beater raw cage and it came out pretty good:

I'd seen where everyone was putting big 2.2's on these (these tires are 5.4" diameter) versus the 1.9's (4.75" diameter) I've always run, so I picked up a set. Not a fan of the look, but I'll give them a whirl to see how they are.

I think these look a lot better and will probably perform better too with the extra wheel speed versus the big boggers.

Lights and brass steering knuckles came in yesterday:

Came across this guy on an R/C group and it's awesome for building/working on these things. I have my Milwaukee but this is way smaller and fits in the little R/C toolbox much better. Charges via USB-C:

Harbor Freight has a decent little Bauer one too, but it's bigger than the Hart one:

Got the new rig out on the rocks and it was awesome. Didn't even get any pics because it just drove over everything. Brought the old OG Element Gatekeeper along on the cheater tires and she did pretty good up until this line....

Yep, Masami won everything there for a while. It was always crazy to see the foreign guys using the stick radios.

I used to refer to him as Suzuki Kawasaki because I always got his name messed up. Masami Drove around the track using is feet for s***s and giggles. We had all the factory Guys like Cliff Let , Ron Rosettie, Brian Kinwald, Gil Losi Sr and Jr. You name it. Had so much fun back then. It was funny becuase all the Cali factory boys couldn't wait to come to Tampa because we had all nude strip clubs which they didn't have in Cali .

I saw that. I'm surprised that it wasn't leaked or out at KoH since they had a huge display and driving area out there. Probably another damn SCX24...

Rit synthetic dye! It came out great. I used the entire bottle in a baking pan with boiling water and let it soak for like 20 minutes.

The kit comes with all black plastics. You can buy the grey plastics separately and dye them

Its been a while ago but when Mike Boylan used to have the Snowbirds in Tampa me and Mike Blackstock visited frequently! I worked with Danny Sullivan of SMC batteries back in those days. track was down the street from airport and the Buccs stadium if I remember right.

We used the ritz dye all the time. The very first Traxxas car we tried to dye was a cluster. When we put the white plastic in the water it turned into one big glob of melted plastic
