Installing a Badlands Apex 5500 with KFI mount.
The remote control panel mount receptacle is a bit perplexing(see pic)
Even compressed the ‘Y’ connecter is much larger than the required hole for the panel mount receptacle.
How could it be fed thru the panel mount hole?
I am thinking about ‘key slotting’ the panel mount hole in the direction of the screw holes so the connection flange will still cover the key slots and enable the ‘Y’ to be fed thru…..or just make a angle bracket and mount it under the hood.

2nd….what is this Velcro sleeve for? It seems far too bulky to protect the rope feeding thru the fairlead. It is not on the instruction parts list.

I don't have any experience with the badland winch and briefly looked at the online instructions (didnt see anything related). It looks like the the rubber grommet (or at least part of it) may come off? And I believe the cable protector is likely something you would wrap as needed, not something that gets wound on the spool.

The panel mount connector is a solid one piece with a rubber gasket.
The sleeve is ~3ft in length and way too long to be just outside of the spool when retracted.

Can you slightly oversize the whole and manipulate the rubber so that the panel fits between the two layers?

When I installed my Badlands on my Teryx4 I had the same inquiry. I left the plug dangling by a zip tie under the hood because I could not figure out how it would pass thru.

I was under the impression the Badlands wrap thing was used during winch operation. For example: if I wrapped the rope around something. I store the wrap separate in the glove box.

On that same forum I found this picture which is a good example of how I have mine installed under the hood.

My plug was not like that. The y is were your wires are hooked together. My plug wires go to the solenoid to hook up. Ibored a hole thru the body by the winch so i can run the winch while standing beside the bike.Keep the plug high so you dont have to stand in the mud while winching.

The y would fine if the plug went thru it
Nope, the hole for the panel connector is 0.875 and the best I could safely squeeze the Y to was 1.040 and that was with disc sanding the outside of the Y which took off an extra ~0.060 to 0.080.
Without sanding the squeezed Y was over 0.250 larger than the 0.875 hole.

I just installed same winch in my new P1K5. I simple did a 3/4" hole then took knife cut out a square to allow Y to pass through. I used automotive silicone to mount

I drilled the hole it requires, but I just squeezed the y and worked it through the hole.
