Are they a must for general trail riding Honda 700-4 Delux. I guess my question should I get them.

They help a lot but you do have to keep them cleaned out. They help protect your CV boots and your arms so you don't have to work on it as much.

You can get a set for less than $150. Go price axles. Well worth the peace of mind

I had them on my 700-4, they helped for sure. I wouldn’t trail ride without them.

I don’t have a arm guards and I probably won’t get them. They hold mud and debris in them. I ride mud, woods, etc. I’m at 1700 miles with only one torn boot early on that was my fault. I forced it over a large branch because I didn’t want to get out and move it so I tore a boot. $15 to fix and never happened again. My brother has them on his 7hundo and he likes them otherwise. If you do get them, watch your front brake lines. You may have to take off the black Honda guard because it pinches the line with aftermarket A arm guards. 😉😎🤎

I use them and like them however they do collect mud so I had to modify by drilling a massive 2" hole in the bottom and had to cut off the front flange that said "Honda" off the front guards because it rubbed on the caliper guards and caused the brakes to fade in tight turns.

They list them up to 2019. Does anyone know if they changed something where they wouldn’t work for a 2020?

I added a set of cheap aluminum guards and I'm glad I did. I'm a woods rider who is more likely to run over brush than to move it.
They already have a few dents from branches and flying rocks. They are loud as hell when a rock bounces off. Scared me half to death first time!
