I created this thread more just for reference so I don’t forget which brake pad lasted longest. I’m mostly in nasty mud in central ms. A mixture of clay, sand, and silt. I’m in a new deer camp this year which has more gravel roads so my bike will see more easy mileage year round now. But the Honda pads lasted 320 in the same conditions as the volar, so we will see what happens!

Stock Honda- 320
Volar 1- 115 ish changed 435 mi
Volar 2- 140 squealing lightly 575 mi
Volar big
Red sintered- installed at 575

Rears were almost on squealers. Could have gotten at least 600 miles out of them.

I also think the squealer on one of the pads got bent in shipping or I dropped it during installation. It was still squealing until I bent it a little just now. With plenty of pad left...

So far about 800 miles on factory pads. Lots of mud and water in those 800 miles. Not checked in a while but at last check they still looked new.

thought mine were shot at 200 miles with a grinding noise, ordered new pads front and back, went to replace and originals still good. I had been doing a lot of slow riding through some deep clay mud holes and sandy creeks and they were packed with grit. Cleaned everything up and all is good, 400 miles now.

Still notice on a steep down hill in 4wd I gets some grinding or strange noises occasionally. Think the front and rear gear ratios aren't exactly the same or my tires are off a little front to back causing the brakes to bind when in 4wd on solid ground.

I use the transmission 90% of the time to slow down so my brakes should go 50,000 miles . OK maybe not that far but they could

Check tire pressures?

I changed front and rear pads today. Sintered pads on all. We will see how long they last! I updated the first post...

I’m getting brass pads next time, if these sintered pads don’t last.... lots of good reviews on them...

I thought mine were toast at 250 miles, but turned out they were packed with sand and grit from creek and sandy mud riding. Have a fresh set of pads ready to go but at 600 miles the fronts still look great.

Just bought a set of race driven sintered pads for the front. I always keep a spare set just in case... gonna try them after the volar sintered pads.
