So I figured I would start a thread to document how I am going about building my rear bumper and rear rack on my P1k-5.

Full Disclosure(s):
I have a day job, so am somewhat of a hack in the garage. A lot of the stuff is "eyeball measured."

I borrow ideas from others on this site, and try to make the mousetrap better.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Will use these rollcage mounting locations to attach the bumper...

A little fabrication done...

Metal fabrication in flip-flops?? This also shows how tight I had to keep it to the machine for clearance.

There is a very small sweet spot back there for bumper placement without dump bed/tailgate issues.

Dump bed tipped, but tailgate up:

Great looking work, I'm interested to see the rest of your back rack.

Rear rack mocked up...don't have a tubing bender, so I had to miter my corners...oh well.

You can see the clearance off the tailgate. It acts as a bed extender and rear rack.

I like what you did with your bumper and rack. If I could get my ultra talented metal fab welder brother mine to fabricate what I dream up i'd have my dream machine! I'm thinking a hinged bumper that locks in. That way it could be higher and further out.

nice work!

mind telling me what size clamps you used and where you got them? hard to find 45mm anything when it comes to roll-cage fab parts.

Yeah, I used 1 7/8" metal clamps from ebay. I used a 1/16" rubber strip btwn the ROPS and clamp to make up the difference. I bought the rubber at Ace. It came in a flat sheet, and I cut it to fit. Here is a closeup...

The package at Ace had two different size sheets -- 1/16" and 1/8". I used the 1/8" as a buffer between the spare wheel and the rack, as follows:

I just drilled the holes for the lug studs and slipped it over them. I dont have to worry abouy rattles now.
