I use my 700 for ice fishing and wondering what you guys recommend? Have read some horror stories on chains but nothing regarding the 700

Thanks, Jim

You may not need anything other then low air pressure and 4 wheel drive.I don't think screw would last long off the ice...I would be careful with chains if one comes loose it will destroy the cold plastics.....I am scared to drive on frozen Ice:confused:

I'd go with chains or lower the pressure. Former dirtbike hobby ice racer here...... Screwing up 4 tires is very time consuming and last time I checked kold cutters aren't that cheap. Then you get into the science of it and they are directional or they will just fill up and slip a bunch anyways. Razor sharp. Saw a guy get crossed up and land between another guys rear tire and fender. They chewed right through his race pants, two layers of thermals and took 2-3 inches of meat out of his thigh. Plus it's always smart to run a liner with screws. I know you're just fishing but I remember guys paying the fastest guy big bucks to get their screws set right for them. So an extra set of tires and liners plus the time and effort, I'd pass.

I was more concerned with alot of guys having issues with the front chains getting hung up in the brakes and everything else, i ordered a 250 pack for screws for $19 shipped, guess i will start there and see what happens

I'm happy with just 4 wheel drive and decent tires. I only ride about 150 miles per year on the ice so it's not worth it to me to have a second set of studded tires. I'd never want the hassle of chains.

That's what I was thinking myself... I have big wide bighorns on and with 8 lbs. of air in 4 wheel It goes good on ice..... but If I had 10 ply Roctanesit probably wouldn't. We have a low lying field that freezes over. Me and the kids play on that. These pigs are heavy

I'm running 28x10 Quadboss tires. They are more of a mini truck all-terrain tire and they do a lot better on ice and snow than the Big horns. I run them at 12psi with 4-5 guys on ice. We have a mix between hard packed and glare ice

This is a better shot of the tread
