Well you do have a bit more power then I and emissions as well so that sacrifices some.17.4 mpg is awesome! I always heard that Cummins got better mpg than others, but it has not proven true on my '17 3500. Even empty I can not get 17 unless I was driving 60mph on interstate. Normal empty at 72, get about 15-15.5. Pulling single axle trailer with P1K, get about 12, pulling GN with skidsteer, drops to 7.5-8 unless I stay below 55mph.
We didn’t do quite as well this trip but wife just reminded me we fired up the truck to charge camper for about 20 min at idle.
I suspect it’d be around 21 on highway empty, haven’t tested that yet so can’t say. Our 2wd srw got 25 highway with Pioneer loaded in the back, super happy with that but this big b**** won’t touch that. I do tend to drive off boost gauge though, whatever gear holds speed and the lowest boost number I run in.
