P1000 DCT?

Please excuse previous premature entry.

I was wondering if one of you knowledgeable Honda users could give a non-gearhead a rundown on the Dual Clutch Transmission.

Its like 2 manual transmissions inside of each other controlled automatically by the computer.
the A clutch controls gears 1, 3, 5 and R
the B clutch controls gears 2, 4, 6

If you are in gear 1, the B clutch is ready to go in gear 2...
Or... if you are in gear 4, the A clutch is constantly looking at your riding style awaiting to go in gear 3 or 5.

This swapping back and forth of power allows for quick and fast gear changes.


Lot of videos on DCT. Its used in honda motorcycles and atv's also. So be sure to look at those.

Yep, I really like it in my Foreman Rubicon

To me the DCT gives me a dual range, 6 speed, paddle shiftin’ dirt kart - more fun than should be legal wit my clothes on. An it ain’t got a CVT, rubber band drive line.
