Freight $1400
PDI $500
Admin fees $500

Are these fees high I think they are ?

Used machine 1100kms was a demo model $1300 freight
PDI $500 telling me it just had a oil change recently . Will need to be gone over and that will be 5 hrs labour. (BULL)
Admin fees $500
What do they do for these fees??
Seems all the different brands charge aprox the same amount!

There are 6 of them . Loaned to a movie crew for Oak Island Mystery . I think its called. Its on TV .They are looking for the oak island treasure .
I doubt they were loaned, they were rented. I bet they paid per KM or per week.
Find a more honest dealer.

You can get new machines under MSRP again. Find a different stealership. IMHO

Good dealerships don't charge PDI or admin fees. Mine didn't on 2 different machines.

Personally I look at the final out the door price. I don't care about fees. I care about my final cost. I cannot tell you how many dealerships I checked out on my last two machines. Someone could be "no fees" but OTD was $15700 while another dealer had fees but OTD was $14500. FOR THE EXACT SAME MACHINE, COLOR, TRIM, OPTIONS AND ALL.

I worked at a car dealership for 10 years. Most fees exist to pay the guys behind the counters. The accounting style typically dictates how those "fees", "audit lines", "dollar location" (however you want to describe it) are displayed and laid out to the customer.

Most people do not get to see the people in the cubicles running the show. Someones has to pay them.

The Kawasaki Teryx4 I recently purchased was an interesting transaction. I found a machine out of state that fit my budget. I was able to nail down final price, deposit, and loan rate. It was a super awesome deal. I called a few dealerships closer to me and told them what I wanted. They politely said they couldn't match that. I finally found a salesperson at a dealership in my state that was willing to negotiate with me. She asked all the information I had on the machine I wanted, she told me she would call me back. A couple hours later she called with their sales manager on speaker phone with me and the three of us agreed on the machine price for the exact machine I wanted. They matched everything for the out of state machine, including the loan. They hooked me up with an in house loan to compete with their competitor. Come to find out the salesperson and manager called the out of state dealership and confirmed everything I had told them. They matched it all, I put down the deposit over the phone, and I picked up the machine the next day.

A good dealership will always work with you. Not against you.

Also, I am very aware and very appreciative of any salesperson who works for me. I respect them. After all of this happened I called the out of state dealership and told him what happened and thanked him very much for his time. I was able to get his favorite restaurant from him and I mailed him a $50 gift card to it for his time.

Not strictly SxS dealers, but I find the sales management and finance department far more shady…

There are lots of shady people out there. Most of the time the people are decent but sales requires risk. Anything you buy used has risk. Not every salesperson has the opportunity to personally assess or become familiar with every vehicle on the lot. They sell you something hoping the brand or make or model was decent from the factory. They sell you something they hope service inspected thoroughly. They sell you something they hope you enjoy when odds are it is probably the first time you are buying that brand/make/model and you don't even know if you will enjoy it. Then at the end of the day the salesperson is the face you blame when things go wrong.

There is alot that goes into vehicular sales that many don't really understand. Even the long time wrench turners in the back don't know everything.

I know. Ive been shopping around today calling dealers and a few over in IL are advertising 14,999 for leftover 2024 P1k5 in red and then they add a bunch of fees...still strong price of 18, 199 plus my state sales tax.

Dealer fees are like the points in "Whose Line is it anyway" The amounts a made up and don't matter if you are resolved not to pay them.

Both dealerships that I dealt with for the Talon and the Pioneer were MSRP (included freight) plus (MI) sales tax plus title. That's it.

No assembly or prep fees, no PDI fees, no admin fees, no doc fees, etc. Then again, I told them up front I wasn't going to pay any of those BS fees, so they can tell me they are good with that or no thanks.

It's kind of funny that there was any talk of fees with the salesman. That's their shell game and a waste of my time. They can allocate funds on any line item of their choosing, OTD price is all that needs to be discussed and that can be done over the phone in most cases. 🤷‍♂️
