Update on the Fire.
Some pictures from the lease boss.
Lease members are still not allowed on the property, but it looks like my little feeder made it. My stand may have been flame broiled a little bit though. And I think I might be able to land a Piper Cub at my spot.

I hate it happened, but you will be absolutely amazed how fast the critters start showing up. It's amazing how resiliant the good lord made them. Did you have the netting on your stand? Easy enough to replace if so. Definitely could have been MUCH worse. We got a little rain here this morning, but it wasnt enough really to do anything more than get the humidity back to where we normally see it.

I have the netting back a camp. I had just got the stand erected like you see in the picture. But still have to put all the bracing up. Hopefully it is structurally sound and we can still use it. Yes, I am amazed the fire didn't burn the whole 3400ac. It's supper dry here.

I usually do winter peas and rye before it gets too cold. Im old, my bones dont like working in the cold as much as they used to. lol I stay with that particular mix simply because it works well in the patch of forest that I am hunting. Lots of guy suse other stuff around here. I have one freind that smokes a good buck year in and year out, and all he ever plants is some East Texas mix the local feed store mixes up. I haven't ever used it, but it obviously does fairly well.
You guys were right. I was able to fertilize and plant some mixed bag of seed last Sunday the 1st as we had a good chance of rain forecasted for the 3rd and 4th of October. And rain it did. Just used a Scott's push spreader and then dragged a piece of hog panel over it with Pockets. Already coming up. The stand was in good shape and got it moved. Building a blind out of it. Hopefully we'll get a little bit more rain later this week.
