Do I have to use 80w-90 gear oil? I have some left from my rubicon or should I switch to a synthetic? Honda pioneer 700-4. I am doing 100 mile change.

The guys that made the switch to synthetic have reported quieter rear ends. Haven't heard of any complaints. I can't speak from personal experience though. I think it mainly comes down to budget and personal beliefs on dino vs. syn.

What kind of synthetic is compatible? Dont want to mess with warranty.

Any gear oil at the proper weight conforms to warranty, as long as you change at intervals required and can prove so. You will be good! I used amsoil because I had some on hand.

I guess what I am saying is I have never seen 80w-90 synthetic. Its always 75w-140 or something.

I'd go with what the manual suggests. Mines a '14 so it might say something different.

Wait yalls diffs make noise? Im still running the hypoid honda oil.

its kinda personal preference. My buddy uses 75-140 in his polaris and honda 300. Diff is vented so even if you do put thicker oil in it as long as it doesnt stop up the vent you should be fine.

I ended up going with this valvoline 75w-140. I guess it's better for colder climates. I never noticed any noise before in the diffs . It just sounds like an atv to me lol. However the oil that I drained out from the dealer had a green tint to it. Only 72 miles on machine.
