P500 Do these things have a reserve?

I thought I read in the specs that the gas tanks are like 3.5 gallons, including 1 gallon of reserve capacity… But I'm not sure how to activate the reserve. Does anyone ?

Not really. Not like the old days anyways.
When you get low the fuel gauge starts to flash. That is considered your "reserve".

What's typical range in the 500. I realize people are different but what's a baseline

138 ....a tank
97....a tank
depends....now that's
Not till it dies from out of gas
it's how ya ride
where ya ride...terrain
If I'm going over 100 miles

So 100 is a safe bet. I was just concerned as I just heard how small the tank is. Seems like mileage is good.

Now that's trail riding

others may have
different results

There are different results, certainly for terrain and speed, but probably drivers too. I bet jak never gets 100 miles to a tank lol. I've never gotten less. ;)

I'm looking down the road just a bit but need it to last most of the day. Just playing lightly rolling around probably nothing heavy. Looking to replace my quad it's got a bigger tank but gets under 12 on average. Occasionally we'll go 106 miles round trip. Can take extra fuel but don't like to. Can you cruise 35ish and still get that mileage or is it wound up?

Wish we had a RPM gauge on the P5, I can tell you that at 35 it's high. At 40, most of us feel like a 6 th gear is in order. ;)

I'm not going to commit to that, I'm just saying that sustaining that speed all day will probably not get you a hundred miles on a tank.
Ok. Thank you very much:)

Started with a full tank, I was at 80 miles and that was all I could take...
My first 80. As in like BOTH my trip and odometer show 80. Ha!
It wasn't flashing, but it's all good, and I took it easy and got 25 mpg.

It'll run all day long at 35 and I'm on the stock tires and it is winding pretty good and I prefer this machine at 30. I don't do fuel mileage on these things cause there's too many variables.
I absolutely understand the variables. And believe me I'm excited about one and I'll run the piss out of her occasionally but we need dependability for the little ones and friends. I'd like a day of play or the normal trip we take to be made. I'm starting to get serious and I need our "American " quad upgraded to a Honda. Just getting the numbers in hopefully early after the new year but trying to show my family why. So I greatly appreciate the feedback and I'll be bugging you guys a lot probably just need good info. Thanks

True enough. I was just talking fuel economy, not whether or not the P5 could run 35 mph all day or not. I'm sure it would run 40 mph all day too, but fuel economy would be dismal. Many have commented here that at that speed, 6 th gear would be nice. I think I recall a few adding that to the wish list of 2017 model updates in the thread by that title.

Let me ask this would taller tires give it better economy at speed??
