I thought I read in the specs that the gas tanks are like 3.5 gallons, including 1 gallon of reserve capacity… But I'm not sure how to activate the reserve. Does anyone ?
Not really. Not like the old days anyways.I thought I read in the specs that the gas tanks are like 3.5 gallons, including 1 gallon of reserve capacity… But I'm not sure how to activate the reserve. Does anyone ?
I'm getting 106 miles...a tankWhat's typical range in the 500. I realize people are different but what's a baseline
Now that's trail ridingSo 100 is a safe bet. I was just concerned as I just heard how small the tank is. Seems like mileage is good.
There are different results, certainly for terrain and speed, but probably drivers too. I bet jak never gets 100 miles to a tank lol. I've never gotten less.So 100 is a safe bet. I was just concerned as I just heard how small the tank is. Seems like mileage is good.
I'm looking down the road just a bit but need it to last most of the day. Just playing lightly rolling around probably nothing heavy. Looking to replace my quad it's got a bigger tank but gets under 12 on average. Occasionally we'll go 106 miles round trip. Can take extra fuel but don't like to. Can you cruise 35ish and still get that mileage or is it wound up?Now that's trail riding
average speed about
20 mph...
others may have
different results
Wish we had a RPM gauge on the P5, I can tell you that at 35 it's high. At 40, most of us feel like a 6 th gear is in order.I'm looking down the road just a bit but need it to last most of the day. 35 too high to run?Wish we had a RPM gauge on the P5, I can tell you that at 35 it's high. At 40, most of us feel like a 6 th gear is in order.
I'm not going to commit to that, I'm just saying that sustaining that speed all day will probably not get you a hundred miles on a tank.35 too high to run?
Ok. Thank you very muchI'm not going to commit to that, I'm just saying that sustaining that speed all day will probably not get you a hundred miles on a tank.

I absolutely understand the variables. And believe me I'm excited about one and I'll run the piss out of her occasionally but we need dependability for the little ones and friends. I'd like a day of play or the normal trip we take to be made. I'm starting to get serious and I need our "American " quad upgraded to a Honda. Just getting the numbers in hopefully early after the new year but trying to show my family why. So I greatly appreciate the feedback and I'll be bugging you guys a lot probably just need good info. ThanksIt'll run all day long at 35 and I'm on the stock tires and it is winding pretty good and I prefer this machine at 30. I don't do fuel mileage on these things cause there's too many variables.
True enough. I was just talking fuel economy, not whether or not the P5 could run 35 mph all day or not. I'm sure it would run 40 mph all day too, but fuel economy would be dismal. Many have commented here that at that speed, 6 th gear would be nice. I think I recall a few adding that to the wish list of 2017 model updates in the thread by that title. It'll run all day long at 35 and I'm on the stock tires and it is winding pretty good and I prefer this machine at 30. Let me ask this would taller tires give it better economy at speed??True enough. I was just talking fuel economy, not whether or not the P5 could run 35 mph all day or not. I would think so. It certainly made the speedometer accurate.Let me ask this would taller tires give it better economy at speed??
