When I was at Michigan Tech in the mid 70's, legal age to consume any alcohol in Michigan was 18. Part of MTU's homecoming festivities was a beer drinking relay on the lawn of the Student Union, and MTU bought all the longnecks for the competition. One of those years in Playboy Magazines list of the top 10 drinking/party schools the last paragraph said We intentionally left University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh and Michigan Technological University out of our top ten survey because we don't we don't believe professionals should be ranked with amateurs. Just sayin' 
Went back to visit MTU a few years ago and it's now an Alcohol and Tobacco Free campus .
