Hi!
I would like to know if someone tried to fit a car electric power steering unit in their pioneer. 600$ for a UTV power steering, damn, ebay is full for 50$ car unit. I'm sure we can adapt one from a car for much cheaper.
Thank's
After I opened and installed my Super Atv power steering I thought the same thing for my future

Started my homework. Find a cobalt unit.... only to find out that it doesn't work without the car computer or an ebay external module. I googled the sugject a little more, here is some interesting info I find on the subject in a car forum. It will not be bolt on, but I will still get cash to hook the little boost i'm planning.
*I hope I don't violate any forum rules and you guys don't mind about quoting other source. Maybe it could help some.

Below is the list of Car that I know of that has Fail-Safe Electric Steering. Only 3 wire connection. Ignition On, Power and Ground to the Steering ECU. That's it !

2004-2009
Toyota Prius
2009-2013 Toyota Corolla
2006-2011 Toyota Yaris - (With ABS)
2007-2009 Nissan Versa
2009-2012 Nissan Cube
2012-2014 Kia Soul

ECU
Part Numbers:

2004-2009 Toyota Prius 89650-47102
2009-2013 Toyota Corolla 89650-02300
2006-2011 Toyota Yaris - (With
ABS) 89650-52120 / 52050
2007-2009 Nissan Versa 28500-EM30A / 991-30303
2009-2012 Nissan Cube 28500-1FC0B / JL501-000932
2012-2014
Kia Soul B2563-99500 / 4PSG1312 / FPSG1312

The output shaft on Toyota is little larger than the rest and therefore the Borgeson 312500, 11/16 36 X 3/4 smooth bore weldable coupling should fits nicely. This couple fits the others as well. The Kia EPS is the biggest and appears to be most heavy duty. The
Prius & Corolla EPS are very easy to find at salvage yards so this is the best bet. I picked up these EPS for testing for $35 each at my local pic-a-part

Note: As with any modification, there are risks. This post is intended to show how I did my modification. Use it at your own risk!

Here is is homework until now . Btw sorry if if phrase seem funny, i'm french...

Ok, got got the nissan versa unit. Got a friend that own a scrapward and he's been generous enough to tontribute to the project so until now project cost is 0$. Got the nissan versa unit with steering wheel and and all the crap, so I did a little cleaning....

Then I discover the pride..ElectricEpower unit with ecu module. Did some test and it work without anything but the module(like explain on the net). 3 wires, is it wonderfull?. Shaft fit with honda column shaft but steering wheel doesn't have same spline count and same size(as expected).

This week-end, i'll try to give more info as i'm working on project but as it is now, my constatation is that it will not be a bolt on project but for a cheap redneck like me, it's lowcost, and probably more then expected for a power steering....
Hope you enjoy!

Nice find @Chuck911jeep , I spit out the $$$ to buy my power steering, but I'm sure with some cheap redneck engineering you'll have it figured out in no time. It will be worth the effort when your done.

It work! Like a charm! spend all day on it, but now only wiring to do and i'm in good to go! wanted to take picture of the process but I been way too lazy and I didn't knew what I was doing. Had to cut and remove part of the column holder to make space for the power steering motor. I really hope it will work for long cause if it break i'm f***! Will try to make a video when i'm done with the wiring.
