This is originally a post I started last year. I completed the ride already and posted the photos elsewhere on the forum. @CumminsPusher @Tigermark @Plumber32 and anyone else who would like to join us for the upcoming July 4th weekend this year 2019. I edited the OP to fit this proposition for a new place to ride for that weekend.

I realize this is short notice but if anybody is bored the week of July 4th and are in Idaho near Riggins or McCall and wants to do a trail ride. I am planning on parking at Bergdorf Hot Springs and taking my machine up to the French Creek switchbacks which go down to the Salmon River then I’m going to follow the Salmon River down a little ways to the Centennial Trail and I’m gonna follow the Centennial Trail up and over to a mine property that I want to look at for possible purchase in the future. It’s 70 acres with five patented gold mines and 5 miles of tunnels 600 feet underground. It's a full days drive and there is plenty of NF campgrounds was well as dispersed camping. I met @Idahoguy at Burgdorf CG there last year.

Burgdorf Hot Springs is one of my most favorite places on earth. There are cabins that that you can rent, or there are 2 small nearby NF campgrounds both about .5-1 mile north and south of the springs. It's like $8 per day to soak as long as you want. Plus, it's accessible all year round by snowmobile in winter. Burgdorf is bout 45 miles north of McCall on Warren Wagon road. There are a couple of old mining communities along the road past the turnoff to the springs. One is the small community of Secesh (has a bar called the Stage Stop) which was founded by secessionist confederate soldiers at the end of the civil war. At the end on the road is the hamlet of Warren but is also an entry point for the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route. IDBDR. The BDR's are routes that got north to south bisecting each western state all on national forest roads and trails. The maps were originally made for motorcyclists but they're accessible to other vehicles as well.

I have met folks from all walks of life and from across the globe while soaking in the pool. Besides the main pool, there are two smaller connected pools that reach much higher temps and can be quite hot!
The cabins are very basic and rustic. I'm not sure of running water or power, etc...? I believe you're supposed to bring your own linens though. I always camp at the CG 1/2 mile to the south and have been there 4+ times.
There are not only NF roads, but there are trails as well. I'm talking wild backcountry. I never would've attempted this trip in a Popo. Truly amazing and breath taking views. I did see a large wolf but it wouldn't stop long enough for me to grab a photo. Had we been in a POOPOO and it broke down, I have no doubt I'd have been wolf food. Carry a gun in the Frank Church when riding here folks.

All these pix in this thread are from my many visits to the area. One of those quarters in the post at the stage stop is from me from about 5 years ago.

There are a whole bunch of really cool gold mines and pioneer cabins on the Centennial Trail as well.

If there’s as many real trails as you say I believe we’re in. Gotta lot to do by then but talked with the family and friends, everyone is down to help and I believe willing to travel a little. Need some information on where to meet. There will be the usual couple families with and kids so need a good spot they can ride directly from. 4th is a 5 day weekend for me and some of the others if that works. Remember there will be a few bikes and daughter will be healed enough to ride. Ang spent a lot of time as a kid there so she’s pretty excited. Your choice were we go so let’s work it out!

Of course! I know nothing about the area though. @100Acre has been pushing me to go a couple places for years so it’s his choice. Might be closer for you I’m not sure. It’s Idaho so most of the no rules should still apply lol

Anyone pulling a larger or longer rig may want to drive down to McCall then up to Burgdorf since the French creek switchbacks may prove challenging at the switchbacks.

Brandon might be coming. It’ll either be the death of that 6.0 PowerStroke or he’ll surprise us all once again. That boy can drive though

Sounds like a good trip and would have loved to ride with you, unfortunately I have a 10 day trip on the Big Lost and the Boulder/White Clouds just after the 4th.
Have you considered riding the Salmon area in the future?

I’m out here in Coeur de Alene NF and have an open itinerary after the 4th except for the Magruder Corridor ride the following weekend.
