P1000 Front tire wear

I’ve read that the stock routes wear out on the road pretty quick. I’m at 700 miles. My front left inside is wearing quicker than right side. I want to buy new tires anyway but if I need to adjust I want to do it before I wear out new tires. Any advice? What’s the adjustment for inner tire wear. I’m going to jack it up later and compare the toe of the front 2 wheels.

Most P1,000's were toed out from the factory. Hopefully all you need to do is set the toe in..

1/8 toe in drives nice mine was toed out 3/4 from factory some as much as 1 1/2 .

I’m learning myself and we will see if an expert can reply. I loosened this nut and turned this. It was the only thing I saw to adjust. I think I got mine close. I used a straight edge from back wheels to front and mine are towed in a little.

Don't think so, out side wear would indicate too much toe in, inside wear indicates too much toe out.

I would think so.

Put a straight edge down and make sure tire going the right way. It might be the opposite of what your thinking. You need to push the back of the wheel out with the adjustment to point the front in. You will also have to adjust the right side to get the steering wheel straight if it was straight before you started.

that’s how mine looked after 600 miles.

I don’t think you want to jack the front up and adjust...I believe that the toe in changes slightly as the suspension moves.

I used pipe strapped on to my tires and a tape measure. I’d make a small adjustment, roll back and forth abit, check, adjust, roll back, etc.


My tire wear is virtually none now, but the rig is crazy twitchy on dirt roads...to the point of needing to run 4wd to keep it under control.
I believe I have mine set at 1/8” toe in...it was like .75 out.

I think I’m going to open it back up to neutral ( after I confirm what I think I have)I think that will bring back a bit of control when the suspension is loaded a bit.

So you strap pipe or straight edge to outside of wheel in the center, measure gap at front and back, you want the front to be 1/8 total less gap or 1/4 less? 1/8 total or an 1/8 for each side? I promise that’s my last question. For now.

I’ll admit I eyeballed mine and it seems like pretty crude way to measure for that much difference across that span on knobby tires?

1/8 th of an inch less measurement in the front. For example, if the front measures 49 7/8" you would want the rear to be 50". If you need to adjust put a mark on each tie rod and turn very little, do each side equally so the steering wheel stays straight
