Buying a Pioneer deluxe 700-4. Just wondering what kind of mileage per tank guys are getting. We will be doing more mountainous type of riding

I too am knew to the forum but from the information I have read in searches the 700 may be problematic at altitude. No low range and only a 3 speed tranny has been an issue. The 700 seems to work great except in the mountains

Fuel injected so altitude should not be a problem. Have seen a few of them in idaho cruising around at 9000-10000 feet no problems

I watch my fuel consumption every fill up and I average 12MPG. I have over 1800 miles and 370 hours on my 7hundo. My average speed is around five MPH. Fuel mileage will vary if I’m stuck in mud all day with the engine running vs cruising trails.😎

Only checked mine once and got little over 20. That was after cruising 65 miles on back roads averaging about 25 mph

As shown above, actual mileage varies greatly and likely a reflection of load and/or how the unit is being used. Therefore, establishing a baseline for your machine under various conditions may be a task during the first 6 months of play :)

Tough question, all depends on your cruising speed and load. I run at 5000' - 7000' with lots of short steep hills . Have no problem going 120 miles during a normal ride with 2 adults and a young'n. Including all their gear and supplies.

I have found, the tranny shifts better and runs cooler if I overfill it slightly. I normally put in 4 quarts of oil when I change the oil and filter. Just works better.

The issue isn't poor fueling, but power loss from altitude. Most "regular" trails aren't an issue, so if you see them riding where you will be, you should be fine.

I usually figure about 20-25 miles per gauge segment.
