Just discovered the other day that there's a gun section here. I'm a certifiable gun nut. I spent half my 20 year military career as a small arms repairman and firearms instructor, NRA certified Rifle and Pistol Instructor, Glock Armorer, past Type 01 FFL (gunsmith) and current C&R FFL, reloader, etc. Guns are my passion. Outside of motorcycles and my Pioneer, guns are what I spend too much money on.

Anyway, I just ordered a Service Grade M1 Garand from the CMP. Can't wait 'til it gets here! Looking forward to seeing some more posts in here!

The Garand is one of my favorites. I’d be like a kid waiting for Christmas Day on that one

I had a little experience with the Garand back in 65, when I was in college ROTC. I remember an affliction that some guys had, called "M1 thumb". Better watch out for that. What is the CMP charging for one of those?

$650 for a Field Grade (pretty beat up wood and more worn barrel), $750 for Service Grade and $1050(?) for the Special Service Grade (which comes with a new Criterion barrel).
