No I just don’t sweat the small stuff. My wife wanted to go so we go. Never been one of those guys that has to have everything just perfect, 10 special straps and swears by this or that. Been doing this stuff for 15 years, it was fine, next time it’ll have a couple straps.
Lmao... well, you do you buddy. But considering the number of catastrophic failures that have come out of your riding area... yooooou might wanna start perspiring a little here and there.

When you are involved in a wreck (doesnt matter who's fault) and that 1500lbs + of steel, firewood and Coors light go tumbling down the road and kill someone you will wish you had used a strap or 2. People get away with a lot of stupid things for a long time until one day they dont. Then they realize what an idiot they've been. You dont always get a second chance or a next time .

Suppose you were on the receiving end and you lost one of your kids due to someone else's such negligence. It's a real bad day.

Let me tell you something. Pulling a trailer is dangerous. Even strapped down I’ve still seen some things. My Sxs was in the back of my truck. It’s actually pretty solid side to side had railroad tie at front of tires at box and behind tires between wheel well. Where we went isn’t any traffic especially that late on a Saturday. I drove safely and left lots of following distance. And will be strapped down next time. My wife wanted to go and she’s more important to me then you stupid ass comments.

I’ve never been in an accident on the street. I can and do drive safely and with a load especially more so. I wasn’t cruising around town with some buddies, precious cargo was sitting next to me and it was our anniversary.
Not saying an accident can’t happen I fix people’s wrecked s*** daily from thier stupid driving not paying attention so yes I know it can happen. Sometimes someone with ability to drive is safer anyways. I hear people all the time criticizing someone’s driving style or how they do it then when they get to an area they can’t handle will give up the wheel to the very person they were criticizing.
We weren’t planning on doing anything. Last minute we did. I WILL next time make sure it’s secure, and it’ll be far more secure in my truck then in a pivot point with a couple wheels on a trailer, so I’ll criticize you for not being as safe our next time out.

Here ya go Dave. While you’ve been flapping your gums about me not being safe and trying to kill people I’ve been building a solution.
Two custom brackets bolted to the box side pockets with 2 5/8” grade 8 bolts and a welded in 2”x 3/16”in cross bar. This’ll protect the cab and give a very solid strap point. Much more solid then factory tie downs. I hope that will suffice for you and meet your high standards. I’m sure it’ll be more solid the anything you tie off to in the bed of your truck. Safety first

I may occasionally do things that don’t look the best but I do find ways to fix it as soon as I realize there’s a problem. Like I said taking the ol lady out last night for our anniversary wasn’t planned, but it’s fixed!

Couldn't do that in a new truck it would fold up! Glad your being safe! I actually lost a 2 week old Polaris sportsman. Dam strap broke. Let it shift on a bumpy road 3 others came unhooked. Almost got the chick behind me. Got lucky.

Older trucks do have a little more girth there but this would work in a newer truck too. That bar will actually tie in the two box sides much more solid then the cheesy tin front panel. Anytime you connected two panels rather then pulling off each individually you triple the strength. It’ll work just fine. Even with no straps the pioneer fits nice and snug back here!

At the point we were in an accident and this came out the straps probably would’ve broken too.

We’ve talked about that. You can’t tell me it’s not safer in the bed of a pickup then a flat bed. I hate flatbeds they are ugly as f*** and for me would do nothing better. Plus you can’t put anything ever in back without that s*** all over the highway. Safety first I want the high sides to protect others on the road, after Dave’s comments I sure wouldn’t want to be unsafe by carrying on a flatbed or open trailer, if the straps did come loose someone would die. Safety first:)

I haven’t hurt anyone. Didn’t need a lesson. I try to fix things before there’s a problem. I definitely didn’t need a bunch of s*** for something I was in the process of fixing. Truck didn’t go again without it being throughly fixed. Stupid comments weren’t needed to keep people safe. Again no one hurt

The looks like a good solution for a tie down post CP. Good job!
