The 10k engine is one of the things that potentially scares me about buying a 1K. I guess I try and look at the worst case scenario sometimes.
Would it be safe to say that the 1k is much more "automotive like" than the semi lawnmower engines in the 500/700?

Don’t be scared, just take a look at everything from time to time and other than that just ride the piss out of it. That’s what I do. Mine has been to four takeovers now since I bought it in late 15. It has been near perfect.

Like I said, sometimes I think of worst case. I ride alone a lot. Sometimes in remote country...and I like to envision what might be needed. One thing that concerns me about the 500 (and 700 before that) is that a dead crank sensor would leave you dead in the water, and they are built into the stator, meaning you have to open the crankcase to fix.

Did they use automotive style (o ring, bolt on) with those on the 1000?

How’s the doggie?
Oh Rem? He’s doing good thanks. He’s taken Gunny’s spot in the barn when I’m out working. Kinda funny, he’s never stayed out in the barn very long. He was sleeping in Guns bed while I was fiddle farting around on the P1. My wife said “ I told you, Gunny and Rem had a talk” lol
