I have both, but I only turn the bilge fan on for 20 seconds after the steam flash happens. Otherwise, I think a good shield, whether a UTV Shield from @trigger or one you do yourself that works - does the vast majority of the work keeping heat out of the 1000.

I ran the DEI heat sheild for a while, added a fan, and now I run the quickshield. Honestly, I think the material in use for the DEI is good insulation, but its just not practical to use there. Raise the seat to check oils or access the storage and you get itchy fiberglass in your arm. Also, it does not seal as good around the seat belts on the passengers side, it just never will like the thick rubber used by the Quickshield. With either product, you really need a fan to blow that header heat out of there or the passenger ends up with good case of swamp ass all day. As we all know, if momma ain't smiling and happy then no ones happy.

I love it when my P1k5 breaks the sound barrier…I just hope the heat shield is still attached!

Thankfully I have a Red Honda, so it’s a normality for me…kinda feel sorry for all those other slow colors out there. Y’all really got short changed for what you paid for your slow machinery…lol.
