Began installing the Inferno maxx heater in my new pioneer 1000 today. Let me just say, what a job and I'm not finished yet. The guy at the Honda shop told me it was a job and he was 110% correct. You have to take the thing half way apart before you start doing anything. And everything you do, you'll be bent over, laying down, reaching up behind this or that. I don't think if I done it again I be much faster, it sucked. But, soon we will have heat.

Honestly that’s a curious way of installing the heater. Pretty sure Inferno instructions just haves you remove the seat.

don’t over think the ductwork locations, keep them low on the engine bulk head.

don’t forget to block off front heater and you’ll have plenty of heat.

Nope, not easy at all!

I installed a different brand of heater, but his was my P1K5 about a month after I got it with only ~50 miles on it:

No, followed instructions. This unit has defrost so you have to remove the floor to install the duct work and wiring. You also have to remove one side panel be the seat to get the floor out. The floor is one piece on 2021 model.

Ahh I see. Mines a 18 so it’s a bit different. Be very careful how you route the ductwork. At one time I had dash vents…till the drive shaft swallowed it all up and took out the subtrans seal. Btw to replace that seal you have to pull the sub trans.

I moved them all to the bulkhead and it’s much much warmer this way.

Yea, the instructions spell that out about tie downs to keep it away from the drive shaft. I farm I know what stuff does when you get it wrap in the drive shaft or PTO, not good.

Mine was tied about every six inches or so…lasted about two years until I was trail riding in the Black Hills. Was within 1 mile of camp and the shaft ate the whole works. Lucky I was able to limp it back but the damage was done.

i spent the next day in camp on a tarp with skid plates removed cutting the crap off with a pliers and a knife just to save the rest of my vacation.

if you could I would recommend a hard pipe if you get it to fit.

I've got some 3" pvc, I check tomorrow evening and see if it will fit under the drive shaft. Good idea.

You aren’t alone! I pulled the front end and dash off my machine on day 4 to do the Honda horn install. View attachment 320742
I'm going to put a horn, some front and rear lights and turn signals on mine as soon as I get the heater and wiper motor in. I may take a break after the heater a wiper, I've only got 30 miles on it, I'm gone ride some.

I take it your heater was up front and not under the seat.
No, I just never follow instructions ... 😆

Yea, the one I installed goes in behind the dash in an otherwise unused space.
