I recently bought a 2016 1000-5 and it it came with the 814 shocks and it rides great but I don't have any experience with the original shocks since this is my first UTV. So don't know if its better, but if they spent 1700 on shocks I sure hope so.
And yeah this is my first post and no pics yet.

I have they fox shocks it helps but it doesn't make it a sport machine, but does everything I ask
It does it really justify that high price point?

Hi everyone! I have a Pioneer 1000-5 deluxe. It rides a little rough. I have read a lot about having better shocks will help the ride. I just wanted to know if the investment was worth it. I am ok with spending the money on new shocks just want to make sure it’s worth it. Thanks for any help. Chad.
Try lower PSI first. I keep mine around 10 PSI and works a lot softer.

@Cws0776 I took my new machine to the Honda TO and after the first day was either gonna sell my 1000-3 or change the suspension. I decided to try the 814s and just went with the recommended settings. The price is a hard pill to swallow but I still have the machine it doesn’t ride like a soft dun buggy but it doesn’t kill my back anymore. And if I wanted to spend the time playing with the adjusters I’m sure it could ride much better. I’d say trying them don’t think you will be disappointed.

Sorry never post anything always read the forums on things that were going on. Thank you
Guilty of this myself. Too much great stuff in forum to read and learn from. Suspension has been an interest of mine as well. While there are a lot of options out there Fox, Elka, 814, etc. I am leaning towards the Fox shocks myself.

Welcome.

I'd read about the rough ride in the deluxe, and a number of others felt they gained entirely different machines with upgraded shocks (Elkas being the most mentioned). I bought earlier this year and got a 2021 P1K-5 Limited Edition with the Fox QS3 shocks. Frankly, the shocks are where the extra LE money goes over the Deluxe (maybe a little to the skid plates).

I don't have context to rate the Deluxe shocks or whether Elkas are better. But I am happy with the Fox QS3's. Hit some big things at high speed, kept steady over washboards, and haven't been disappointed.

This is Moab in March on the Seven Mile Rim trail with Monitor and Merrimac in the background. Barrels full of fun.
