its not mine, dropped off while at work by my friend with a "will you look at" text ?

P500 -not sure of year, 3424 miles

it starts right up, display reads 2 in gear position indicator in manual and auto, machines drives forward , does not shift, paddles don't do up/down shift, reverse doesn't engage\work - used at a local quarry, won't ever know if swamped or history. I moved the lever to 4wd, the 4wd indicator came on. engine sounds good, no knocking.

the extent of troubleshooting so far was to use the seatbelt - no effect.

gear indicator displays 2, then 4 long blinks and 7 short blinks

found a 2015 manual on-line, could not figure out the code (its bs I don't know the year and asking for help)
here are pics - it did happen

it does have a custom roof mounted chase light....

any ideas on where to start? IMG 8634IMG 8635IMG 8633IMG 8636

With the auto/manual switch it's a '17 or newer model. The code you mentioned doesn't show up in the service manual, should be more numbers.

"Starts right up"
Many stuck in gear 500 problems are weak battery.
Load test the battery to eliminate it as a possible problem.
.
Other common,
- The throttle cable is moved when changing oil, so the idle is to high.
- Mouse chewed wires
- Clutch out of adjustment
.
Have a good day

Code 57-1/or57-2 refers you to code 41-2 Gear Position Switch malfunction.

Can you manually shift the unit?

checked battery voltage while running - 14.2v

Tried to manually shift with tool up and down - won’t budge…..

buddy pulled battery this week and had tested, tested good

hit the downshift paddle and the dash dims and you can hear it trying to shift

hit the up shift paddle and nothing tries

seems locked solid mechanically in 2nd gear

Any ideas?

Try rocking it while shifting manually?

You might have something broken behind the front cover most likely.

I'd bet the return spring is broken or the shift plate.
