That is true. It's like Honda made the lights aim too high because they didn't include high beams. After seeing the mod that HondaSXS did, the low beams are low enough for on coming traffic but the high beams are crazy bright.

Ok. Here is the final details on the LED [HASHTAG]#retrofit[/HASHTAG].
The LED units required more space then the 700 OEM's. I had to mold the headlight cover to allow clearance. My first attempt was a disaster as you can see. It worked for the purpose, just a terrible job trying to mold and stretch the plastic. Might of overheated it a bit. lol.

My second attempt turned out a bit nicer. But still ugly. Good thing it want really be seen or have a effect on anything. I found that using the but end of the air hammer worked well to push in and cool the indentations. You can see in the first picture the only location that needed to be pushed in to allow the LED cooling fins to clear.

Where did you get the 3 wire plug from to go to the headlight
It's the "sub harness" listed in the first post. It centers into a 6 wire plug. 3 for each light. Chop it off and fuse like colors together to make 3 wires again.

Can you tell if the headlight bucket is the same part number for the 500 and 700, I wonder if the 1000 headlight buckets would work instead of melting and shaping?

Each is different to fit the main fender.

So they might fit the 500 without modification?

Hey there I got all my parts except the bushings today and I had a few questions. Did you power the three position switch from the factory headlight switch and what did you do with the fourth wire on the new headlight switch? Did you power the new harness from the stock switch? Do you have any colour codes for the new headlight? Just any wiring info you could share would be great, thanks.

@15P5Mike
Glad you got them cheap.
Ok. I'll try to answer your questions. I ended up not using the new headlight switch. I used the 700 off/on switch and a second on/on switch for hi/lo.
I powered it from the OEM wire located under the front passenger fender. There I cut the 700 OEM wires goign to the headlights and used that for all power. There is only 2 wires there. A HOT and a GROUND.

The rest you will need to work out wiring if you plan to use the 1000 switch.
1000 switch - Brown/Black = Power in, Brown = Tail lights, Blue = High, White = Low.
On the LED lights- Green = Ground, Blue = High, White = Low.

Why not just cut out the area opening it up for better cooling for those hot LED's!

The upgrade looks to be AWESOME!

Spent the afternoon on the lights and they will work in the 500 doing similar mods that happened with the 700. I love the lights they are from jw speaker whi make very high end lighting. There's no question these are priced wrong.

No for the wiring, I want the new lights to use the factory light relay and new 1000 high low switch so this is what I came up with. I cut off the two wire factory headlight switch and spliced the two wires together causing the relay to energize when the ignition is on. Then I used the stock headlight power that is coming from the relay to power the new 1000 switch that has off low and high. Then I came out of the 1000 switch to the new LED light harness. This seems the best I can come up with without adding more relays or switches. I ran a light for a hour and the switch stayed cold. I'm open to any other suggestions.

Ya. That sounds right.
I only didn't because I had a switch already ready.

It sounds like you are questioning the power consumption? Don't. The LED's draw less then the bulbs did. It will be fine.
