Soon going to be taking my P520 in the snow at my parents house in upstate PA. Was wondering what my snow depth limits are going to be. Was hoping all of you could give me your snow riding experience advice. I have Bighorn 2.0 26x9-12 on the front, and 26x11-12 on the rear. I do not have a torque locker installed. What is my inches of snow depth limit before I have to worry about an issue? Thanks ahead of time for your input!

To me there are three types of snow. Hard pack, soft, and fluffy.

My 700 with 4 lock will push soft snow up to 14” in depth. That depth of snow will stream up over the headlights when pushing it.

@futzin or @906UP should be along and might be able to give you some insight.

As NH2 said, there's different kinds of snow. If it's light & fluffy you should be able to handle deeper snow, if it's close to freezing temps.... 30-34°, that can make the snow pack up and turn "greasy" so it doesn't take much to get stuck. Regardless, momentum is your friend when it comes to winter/snow riding. Have fun and take pictures

Others have stated "All true" & fuel mpg. DROPS 1/3rd. to 1/2

Guideline to ride & still have Fun:
Exspect Wheel Spin & hope not to need the winch
With good base under snow

COLD Temp's </> Light & Fluffy </> 12 inches +/-

Warmer Temp's </> Wet Heavy </> 6/8 inches +/-

With the title sure to get a few Porn Star comments

Enjoy the visit </> your parents will

I snowrun my a— off. First thing, dress well with extra gloves. I’m always winching. Bring extra lengths of cable and/or straps to get to a better tree. Sneaky deep snow on shady tree lines. Found some with the Rubicn the other day. Cleans the carbon out. Get out there! And you don’t get muddy……

We ride in snow and in most cases when the belly starts dragging your are almost done. Yes snow condition makes a difference, but if you are riding for fun and not working your ass off limit snow depth to your belly.

This is very true. And you will usually not have issues with a dry fluffy snow up to the belly of a P500. Wet snow that deep can definitely be an issue. I have gotten my P500 and several types of Jeep vehicles stuck when wet snow packs under the skid plates and lifts the front end up off the ground.

And remember 4 wheel drive only means that you can spin all four tires on slick surfaces.

🤔 Is this belly deep snow similar to the waist deep snow my grandparents walked through up hill both ways to school?

You've got the right tires for staying up on the hard pack. If you break through or get off the path you're stuck.
