So when I bought my Pioneer it had a few dents and dings. I had some tread plate leftover so I started making a skid plate. It's not done yet, want to test fit before final welds.

I started by making cardboard templates of the pieces. I'm using 1/4" thick steel tread plate. It's going to be quite a bit heavier so I am running sleeves into the upper part and I will drill holes and plug weld. Should be a lot more stout. I will post more pics as I go.

We call that government work.LOL....Cant wait to see the progress.Remember if you plan on getting a plow the bottom place you bolt the push bar to, cant be too wide or you will have to mod your mount...

I had a long going job working for a mechanical engineer who would not only pay me to work on my own stuff, he would help with the design. As long as his machines were running he didn't care and with piles of metal stock, a small machine shop and welders it was game on....

It's all about how you phrase it. If you say "I'm getting paid to work on my own stuff!" Then it sounds bad. But if you say "I'm having a skills improvement day" it sounds better. On 'skills improvement day's I practice using the mill, welder, plasma cutter, etc. So when I need those skills at work they're honed and ready to go!!

We got all kinds of goodies here. Welders, end mills, you name it. But they'd fire me in a heartbeat if caught by the wrong dickhead.
I've learned that even the "dickheads" need something fixed or made from time to time. So if you help them out, maybe they'll turn the other cheek. I've got the some problem, our big boss is against it, but I have saved my boss thousands over the years so he's pretty good with it.

Normally I'd agree with you. But I'm talking about a special kinda dickhead here lol. There's no compromising or reasoning. You screw up, you're gone. End of story. It's okay. I'd rather play at home anyways. Fixing to be doing alot of that.
