Went to hogwaller this weekend and the p500 did great. My current set up pulls in the mud great but I really need some more clearance to get through deep ruts and stumps. Looking for some ideas to achieve this.

Not many options out there. Portals or forward arched A arms will allow for taller tires. @jak9922 makes an extended travel kit as well.

I’m wondering if the 18 p500 will turn 30” zillas. I think that would help me a good bit as my current 27” only measure 26.5 just don’t want to bog the machine down and make it a real turd

Portals. This is the best option. Cost $3000
Arched A-arms, can add lift and help get over the logs and ruts and they can be set up to push your front tires further forward allowing for larger tires to be used. Cost $800-$1200 plus tires.
Lift kit, 2-4 inches Cost $150-$250

The A-arms and lift kit both increase the angle on the drive shafts.
The portal doesn't.

Taller, not wider tread. You don't have the HP to turn wide tires that are 30" tall in heavy mud, or the wheel speed to clean out tight tread.
With 30" Interco R-force tires you can still dig pretty good and drive over a milk crate, but ya gotta keep em narrow. For the life of me I don't understand why people mess with tires less than 28" tall on a P5.

You think if I had 30” wide zillas just on the back and the skinnies on the front I could still turn them.?

Because they'll rub without a lift or A arms?

I am all for you guys that want to bail off into the mud and go for it. For me I am not into that. We leisure sight see ride and I hunt using my 500. I will get some little taller tires when I need tires but most important to me is getting into tight places to hunt and just easing through the woods. That's why I do not want tires 28 or bigger. We frequently encounter trees in the trails and we have many times had to work our way around the tree. Cutting a new trail is verboten and more than I want to do. I will saw out the block if it is not to much but that is allowed.

At some point, the P500 is what it is. So did invest in 27 inch tires and a full skidplate for those belly rubs, and stopped at that. But the good thing is the P500 is open to mods as deep as your wallet.

Saturday I went by the local Honda dealer to pick up some small parts and they had a few of the Talons out front. One of them had so much ground clearance I would need a step ladder to get in it. It looked way out there. They will sell a boatload of them!

I'm running BH 2.0 28x10x12 on all corners. and they do not rub. just put a tape on them and they are at 27.5". with my factory springs cranked to the highest setting I have just north of 10" of ground clearance. run this way in the winter helps with deep snow. turn back down in summer months.

What is it about 30" tall narrow tires that scare people? I have had them for 2 years now without issue. I have 2" spacers behind each wheel and have been a lot of places some would avoid without an issue. When these tires load up with mud they can scuff the paint off of that front vertical tube, and I did cut the corner off of my overhanging front frame.

What are you asking or insinuating? I don't have a lift, a lift on a P5 is silly and just over stresses the axles with more bind and makes the suspension so stiff the thing is a riding lawnmower...that flips over on it's side.

"Turn them" is a suggestive term. Some riders blast through sandy water and think it's mud... some hit peanut butter mud. So in a word, no, you need to think tractor and not dune buggy.
