I don’t know how to explain Moab, the variety of trails, the drastic changes in environment and the sheer amount of trails is mind blowing. I have never ridden in a better area, you want easy and beautiful you can do it all day, you want to test your skill you can do that as well, tired of the desert we’ll drive 10 minutes to the mountains.
If I would suggest one place for anyone to ride it would be Moab. Although it always seems to scare Richard and he runs away.
So gear reviews:
RB3 spacers
the good: they performed wonderfully so far many off camber areas I have no doubt I would have tipped or rolled they were a literal life saver
The bad: nothing they have performed as advertised, my tires rub the plastic fenders but that’s because my fenders are not exactly in the right place from ummm let’s call it age. So no negatives
RB3 steering rack
The good: I got bound up in some rocks and snapped a grade 8 bolt on my Tie rods the steering rack took no damage and has worked wonderfully. I have no doubt my steering with stock tie rods would be way tighter with no play.
The bad: none it is a substantial upgrade over stock, just get help installing the top two bolts I’ll show that more on install thread.
Deltons tube doors:
The good: awesome doors, worked great for the heat I felt it increases my ability to see my environment on difficult trails. Put some thick roll cage padding they make a great foot rest to.
The bad: Nothing
Cfab tie rods:
The good: they are stout, I haven’t bent one yet
The bad: I did however break the bolt that goes in the knuckle it’s an easy fix though if you get them just pick up some extra bolts. I believe some of the problem obviously was my driving but a tapered shim or machined bolt to fit in the stuck 7.5 taper would likely greatly reduce the wear and chances of sheering the bolt.
Weule cage:
The good : I tipped over and hit hard and I have flipped it end over end with not a single bend. I can say it has saved me from injury and saved me from not being able to continue riding
The bad: it does increase weight but that’s an expected give and take.
Cfab A arms:
The good: great arms, very tough, great customer service
The bad: they do change your cv geometry so caution on extreme lock to lock steering. I do have a ball joint slightly loose but that’s after several thousand trail miles. I would buy again
IGR:
The good: makes trails much more enjoyable you can crawl rocks and I rarely find myself running out of power.
The bad: higher RPMs, not the easiest to install yourself
A side note to Honda: please make the radiator bigger and the fan bigger there is a significant amount of room for this to be done.
Hondasxs radiator override switch has eliminated 90% of my issues in this area and is a very cheap fix until the new radiator prototype is complete.
Overall trip damage: 1 rear axle, 1 tie rod bolt
Now time to explore Colorado a bit and see what it has offer. Arrived this afternoon at Taylor park and will be seeking out challenging trails tomorrow am.
P.S. superatv make some 2.0 axles for pioneers, just because you have had some design failures and engineering mishaps on the original version I have faith you can get the improved 2.0 dialed in
