Magruder Corridor round trip

I would like to do a round trip of the Magruder Corridor (Montana Road) east to west and back from Darby MT to Elk City ID with all the side excursions along the way. Camping along the trail with a Motel or other stay at Elk City, the half way point in the trip for a hot meal and shower. I’m thinking 6-7 days. I would be towing my tiny trailer.

Thinking about mid to late July 2019. I would like to see what kind of interest there might be for those who live in the region (or farther away for that matter) and hit up any and all that already have experience with all or portions of it, starting with @mjn??

An Idaho OHV sticker/permit is required for use.

That would be a great trip but I’m planning on Moab in June.

I would be trailering from Oklahoma to Darby and staying the night at the Travelers Rest Motel and Cabins in Darby and heading out early the next morning.

The halfway point stay would be at the historic Elk City Hotel (Motel) which is the only gig in town.

Looks like there’s the Elk Summit Cafe and Elk Creek Station Cafe for eateries.

Magruder Corridor Scenic Drive

Magruder Corridor Scenic Drive is a 122.5 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Elk City, Idaho that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for fly fishing, scenic driving, and off road driving and is best used from July until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Keep in mind, the drive from the west side of the magruder to Elk city is roughly 12 miles of pavement. I’ve never had an issue with rangers or police regarding license plates. But you never know..

You could add so many other runs onto that trip too.. Elk City wagon road, the ride into Buffalo Hump..
That country is gorgeous.

You could add so many other runs onto that trip too.. Elk City wagon road, the ride into Buffalo Hump..

I’m all ears. Any input on mapping and side roads/side trips sounds good. Please advise.

My sxs is licensed/tagged with turn signals and horn and full coverage insurance. So is the tiny trailer I’ll be towing.

Maybe. Looked at doing that before. It’s all pretty easy riding but looked gorgeous. Couldn’t make it for that many days but could look at catching up part way or something. Going to be a busy year need to start writing s*** down.

Lmao. Yep, ride up from Elk City spend a night on the trail. Have you seen pictures of that road when there’s wash outs or tree falls. Definitely traveling with a chainsaw, and some of the out and back side roads to various sites aren’t completely easy. I’ll have my tiny tear drop in tow, so I don’t need devils back bone terrain.

Btw, I was just in Montana a couple months ago and saw ATV’s/UTV’s all over the streets of the smaller western towns. Didn’t seem like a place that would give you trouble headed into the Nez Perce Wilderness....but as I said, I’ll have my papers in order, in the event.
