So you're gonna do all the research then sell your machine and disappear?I didn’t flake out before. But PROTC-1 was a whole different deal that required (IMO) a level of preparedness that mopar didn’t want to engage. I’m not interested in “fly by the seat of your pants” expeditions.
Ok, that’s fine. But I’m going to do it over a week. There’s side trips that can make this 300 miles or more. No hurries. You want to sign up?So you're gonna do all the research then sell your machine and disappear?
Anywho....
I think you've picked out a good trail and a very doable distance to travel. I'd say you could do it in 4 days. I'd need at least 2 days travel on each end of that.
So you round up all the details and when it's about 30 days out I'll tell you if I'm going.

Sometimes depending on weather and blowdowns, the corridor or parts of it may not be open until as late as August sometimes. This is what I've been told a couple of times. But I've never done it so whenever you choose to try and attempt it, I'm game!
Last year or the previous one part of the road had been washed out.
Sign up bro.So you're gonna do all the research then sell your machine and disappear?

You're going to make him panic lol. Monte has to think of every possible rule and scenario. He is not a fly by seat of the pants guy.Like 100 acre said, in 2016 there was a pretty extensive washout. They were still working on it it the last week of July. We were there Aug 4th. We weren’t even sure we’d be able to go all the way across.View attachment 96441
Yeah, I saw pictures of it before repairs. you made it all the way across though.Like 100 acre said, in 2016 there was a pretty extensive washout. Don’t be condescending.......You're going to make him panic lol. Monte has to think of every possible rule and scenario. He is not a fly by seat of the pants guy.

I'm not, I want the trip to happen.Don’t be condescending.......
I have both the Red and Salmon River Ranger District contact information, who post the road conditions of the MC regularly. That’s what I’ll watch between now and then. Any blowdown will have to be very recent upon departure to escape the report, and very extensive if a winch and chainsaw can’t cut a hole.Sometimes depending on weather and blowdowns, the corridor or parts of it may not be open until as late as August sometimes. This is what I've been told a couple of times. But I've never done it so whenever you choose to try and attempt it, I'm game!

Can you explain this. You know I’ll be traveling from Oklahoma, approaching from the east via I-90, Hwy 43, on that basis it makes sense to start and finish at Darby.Logistically, it might make more sense to base somewhere by Red River, or one of many other spots in the Newsome creek & Elk city area.
Is that what you did??? And in such a scenario, why wouldn’t the shadow truck have fives of fuel in it instead of having to run back to Darby for fuel????If you had someone that could shadow you in a pickup over the Magruder, that person could run to Darby & get fuel.
No......So you're gonna do all the research then sell your machine and disappear?
That’s what you say now don’t get us all excited for nothing or we will cut of your moonshine supply!No......
Hmmm.....Different trip... not sure I’ll be able to do the September ride. But I do want to ride the bitterroots.. be sure to take plenty of peanut butter!
Well, unless your “in” why are you getting excited.......That’s what you say now don’t get us all excited for nothing or we will cut of your moonshine supply!
The Prius would probably stay left at this point. After watching a bunch of videos last night . Appears you could take a Prius down most of this trail. A guy on a dirtbike did the 110 miles in 6 hrs with plenty of stops... so if you needed supplies it shouldn't be a big deal
