After watching a bunch of videos last night . Appears you could take a Prius down most of this trail. A guy on a dirtbike did the 110 miles in 6 hrs with plenty of stops... so if you needed supplies it shouldn't be a big deal
Not sure what the Prius would do here. But I know what I’d do if I encountered such a washout!

Don’t know yet if I’m in. @JTW was talking about a Moab trip around the same timeframe and I had already told him I would be in on that.
That’s the month before, but yeah, you’ll be down there....

From all I’ve heard it’s really easy riding. I would assume it could be done in 3-4 hrs, it’s not a huge ride. I do want to put tires on it for the sites at some point

I’ve looked at a lot of reviews on trip advisor and other forums and nobody that’s actually done it describes it in those terms. 3 hours would require an average speed of 40 miles an hour, not only impossible but defeats the purpose of taking such a trek to begin with. The .gov website has detailed information of the numerous hazards, blind curves and meeting opposing traffic with cliff like conditions on both sides.

Wasn’t saying I’d be planning that speed because you’d miss the sites. On easier treks we kick back and try to enjoy.

Exactly, the fire tower at Hell’s Half Acre for example is about a four mile out and back that is occupied by a couple that has been living in it for more than 20 years. Needless to say they are lonely and appreciate visits and travelers have posted fascinating stories that they are more than willing to share with you of happenings during their stay. Do consider joining for at least some of the ride. :)

Will consider. However we would be starting on Idaho side so we’d have to figure that out if we went. There are so many rides coming up need to get ass in gear and figure what exactly we can feasibly make

This is why it’s important to regularly watch postings. August 2014

Magruder Corridor closed by tons of rock, mud, debris
What's the plan to stay up to date on weather while you're there? No cell service so you will need a sat phone or 2......2 is 1 and 1 is none. Sounds like a great trip you just dont want to be surprised by 10" of rain. Would a good CB radio get service for the weather station?

Is that what you did??? And in such a scenario, why wouldn’t the shadow truck have fives of fuel in it instead of having to run back to Darby for fuel????

Unless a forum member living fairly close (@mjn ;)) wants to shadow the UTV caravan, I’d have no way of doing that. But, at any rate, I intend to have 3 fives of fuel on my receiver rack on the back of my trailer. That’s two fill ups. And of course there’s fuel (Elk City Station and Cafe) in Elk City where I’d replenish for the return route.
Any fuel in Elk City is going to be expensive. It's a Backwards/backwoods hamlet and nearly an hour from Grangeville. I'd get my fuel there. I'd also imagine most of the folks on here would rather start at the western edge being it's closer to them. Alos thers the Hot springs at Red River if anyone is looking for a soak.

There are absolutely no services whatsoever along the corridor
