The FCW and the NPW are black bear, mountain lion and wolf areas to be sure. Rattle snakes are unlikely, but I suppose a potential risk. I’ve been reading the experiences of many a MC traveler to assist in my preparations.

That’s of very little concern as well!! You’ll have to find a different wet blanket to throw on it lol. Much of the forest along the route has suffered from fires and heavily burned in recent years.

Ok, well I missed the post where you affirmed your participation in the MC Trek. So yeah if you’re coming along, then you will certainly be traveling a greater distance than I. Guess you should have moved to Idaho.

Been talking with the Idaho County DMV in Grangeville about acquiring the Idaho restricted vehicle license plate and the OHV permit sticker through the mail. Waiting on a supervisor to call me back but the lowerlings are telling me I’d have to come in personally for this.

Not for my 1000-5, no. But if this is going to be an issue, perhaps I’ll take the 1000-3 instead.

You’re not gonna see any rattlesnakes on the Magruder.
I lived up there for over a year, then lived in Grangeville another couple, plus I’ve been back just about every year since..
Never seen a Rattler.
Moose? Definitely.
Black bear? Yep.
Grizzlies? Technically yes. Would you see one? If you did, buy a lotto ticket.
Elk & deer too. , there are several Wolf packs, and Coyotes everywhere.
But no Rattlesnakes.

I didn't have to in May of 2017. You can get a permit through the mail. Here's a link to viewing the whole IDBDR but it gives you a zooming Satellite map of which the MC route is mapped. It's the east-west red line.
