1" spacer...puts stress on bearing..
but 29.5 OutLaws...are great ...alot
of weight close to ground....
OutLaw owner said...the weight
was 2 times that of stock wheel
& tire...?,.....
....
just saying....IMO

So...does a 1" spacer
put more stress on
bearing than a wheel
& tire over 2 times the
weight of stock

(Edit)

A spacer is going to move the load further out from the bearing, more stress I would think. How much more and how detrimental IDK. A larger-(Edit) diameter- tire on the same "offset" shouldn't put more stress on the bearing but if you go too large they'll start to stress the drive train.

That's what the engineer says. Not so much about weight as pushing load out farther with spacers. A 56" or 60" machine is the answer for the faint of heart when it comes to the tippy Honda P5.

Don't know the width
of the outlaws
but pic showed them
& they were wide
to me...IMO
A wider heavy tire would
stress bearings as well

A wider tire a bigger tire
Double the weight
would damage more
than bearing....
Used spacers on many ATV with no issue

Doesn't a wider tire
move more weight out

As long as the rim offset remains the same it shouldn't. You will add as much width to the inside as the outside.

I'm not an advocate for going too big on aftermarket tires.

As an engineer, with a little common sense. (go ahead)
Yes, moving the load away from the bearing increases the stress on the bearing. No, it doesn't matter if it's offset rims or spacers.

IT AIN'T ENOUGH TO MATTER.

Add the spacers or offset rims. The added stability and fun outweighs the risk.

Yep. I went 1" wider tires when I went from stock to Bighorn, yet the P5 only got 1" wider because half the extra width went to the inside.

So to you...they both
stress bearings....
Thanks. Wat I thought

I put spacers on mine and have never once worried about the stress on the wheel bearings.
If I do wear them out prematurely...oh well it was worth the stability.
If you go up, you should go out. As for bigger tires, I've never had a problem turning mine.

I'm sure that's true, but bearing stress isn't the only reported problems people have had with spacers. Offset wheels are a better way to achieve a wider wheel base.
