I'm going to the dealer in the morning, so choose one 700-4 or 1000-5 remember mostly farm work and hunting.
For farm work, which is the primary purpose of my P7, get the P7-2. For my farm/ranch work, the rear cage and roof would be big time in the way.

To show you the versatility of the 700-4, I don't farm or hunt. My cousin on the other hand does both. We have the same machine, I've just rigged mine up for trail riding. If I had to do it over again right now I'd still go with the 700. I've got significantly less money tied up in it than I would've with the 1K. The only thing I don't have is the power which I'm totally fine with at this point.
That 700 will carry you faster on the trail then you have balls to handle. :D:D

I'm with @LandPioneer, I would stick with the 700, but again we are a little biased. I really do believe the 1000's problems will be worked out. But until I see the parts break down of the 2017 vs 2016 1000 (to see if they made any changes) I personally just wouldn't jump in one yet. Today CP said that he had another clutch going out. This is the 3rd in his new rig, and for me that is just not except able. It took me along time to save the money for the initial purchase, and along time to save money to add accessories along the way. I can't afford to be working on it like that.

Lol @Montecresto if that were only true. I road my old sport bikes at 170mph + and I have a Cobra Mustang with 570hp. However, I have calmed down since my wilder days and I know that "extra" horsepower would get me in trouble if anything else. That's why my car stays in the garage the majority of the time

As far as low speeds the 700 can do it all day with no problem. I have about 14 acres that spray weeds and a pull behind mower at about 3 mph and has never had a problem. One other thing that is nice about the 700 that is missing on the 1000 is the emergency brake that you can apply when you get in and out to shut gates and such. The 1000 has the park in the transmission. Just some more of my 2 cents. I'll pretty quick I will owe you a dollar.

The asphalt isn't the trail. I'll take you on trails you would not, could not take at 40+ mph. ;)

Didn't say it was, I live in Tennessee and ride in the Mountains. I'm talking about riding power, not top end speed. I trail ride mostly over difficult rocky trails, the places most people don't even think about going. The problem with the 700 isn't top end speed for me, its the giddy up and go...

That's the trails I'm talking about that the 700 has more giddy (sic) up than you could ride without wiping out. :D

@Dmaxxx a few posts back you said reliability is more important than power. Allow me to translate what you actually said-

"I should get a 700"

I use mine for farming, hunting, and trail riding. As a hunting rig, I have no complaints. As a for farm use my only real complaint is I'd like to be able to go a bit faster down the road to get to different fields. But perhaps you're lucky enough to have one big piece of property rather than different fields scattered around. For trail riding, well yes more power is always welcome but never actually been necessary.

I guess the real headline for me is this, in 4000 miles I've worn out a set of tires, changed the oil, and put gas in it, the way it should be

At least we got one question answered for you. I do have to say, I drove by my local dealer today and someone was leaving with a new white 1000-5 deluxe and it sure looked pretty cool. Im going to speak for myself and probably @LandPioneer but i can see myself upgrading in a couple of years, but just not yet. Enjoy.

I'm going to make my decision tomorrow while I'm at the dealer and then I'm not going to look back and then the fun will start by accessorizing. I really appreciate every ones input you have given me lots of great info.

Yes sir I'm not going to say there's no way I'd ever upgrade. If Honda addresses the clutch issue and I don't see as many people having problems I'll be in the market. I want people saying the same about the 1000s as they do the 700s. They are dependable and virtually problem free... When that day comes, I could see myself in a 1000.

I didn't realize the P7 owners were so lonely.
