I know that the break-in period is 100 miles or 20 hours which ever comes first. I bought my last friday and it was in the showroom with 1 mile on it. However when I got home with it I noticed that the engine time was already at 15 hours. How does Honda record engine time? When its running? Or just when you turn the key and light up the dash. I could see maybe if it was just turning the key to get 15 hours but I'm puzzled that either Honda or the Honda Dealer would let it idle for so long. Now I have 35 miles and 20.5 hours. So in theory its time to change the oil/oil filter. What are your guys opinions? Another question when changing the oil and checking things over. Did you just check the front/back diffs or did you change them. Also if you changed them did you replace the seals/o-rings or just the fluid. THanks

I believe the engine hour on the digital readout count the time the ignition switch is on. It is entirely possible much of that 15 hours was logged by people checking it out / salesman demonstration in the showroom. I experienced that several years ago on a fourtrax I purchased.

Exactly why I can control my accessories with a 15min time delay relay or a jumper if I want to listen to the radio all day.

Welcome @50calty
Thats crazy, They must of left the key on overnight or something. Around here these things don't sit for long.

I would wait some more before changing it. But thats up to you. Just get on a set cycle by the 3rd change.
Maybe call the dealer and ask them whats up. Try to get a free oil change or at least the labor paid for. A decent dealer would not even question covering the labor fees if asked.

Book calls for just checking the diffs. But many of us changed. There is no seals changes on the diffs unless its leaking.
