I went with Bighorns 2.0's 26"-11"-12's on the factory rims on all four corners. I have been super happy with this setup for the riding I do. We have a lot of trails where I hunt that go from mud to rock to sandy river bottoms and rock crawls all in a few miles so I wanted a good all around tire and a found a place that would ship the Bighorns to Alaska for free saved me several hundred off local prices......(lol they now charge for tire shipping think I was the first order going to AK). For some pictures check out my post from last years hunt. P500 - Photos from moose hunting north of Fairbanks AK

25" would be good, 26" would be better. Honestly, the machine felt a bit tippy with the stock tires, and since going 26" it's still tippy but really doesn't seem any worse than before. Just be aware of it, and you will be fine with 26". I have the Kenda's and love them. Bighorns are awesome tires. I picked Kenda because of the lower price, and I would buy them again. Many good reports on the Ripsaws too. For all around good tires, the Kendas and Bighorns are tough to beat! My advice is do not delay the tire upgrade. It makes such a huge difference in capability and ride quality. If you don't need to worry about a couple inches of extra width, go with the 5+2 offset wheels. The little bit of extra width has never been a disadvantage for me.
I thought 2+5 is what you would want. 5+2 is only 1/2 inch more than stock!??

2+5 would make it really wide... 5+2 is what most people go with. Between the extra offset, and extra width of the tires (9" versus 8" stock in my case) it's probably 1-1/5" - 2" wider overall in the front at least.

I ended up ordering 12" STI HD3s with 26" Bighorn 2.0s. I've got my moose roof installed and mirrors. Next step will probably be a half windshield. We are in Florida on vacation now but hopefull we will be able to get to Windrock in a couple weeks to really try this thing out.

Has anyone tried running wheel spacers and aftermarket wheels for a little extra stability? Nothing crazy, maybe just 1" spacers.

Yes, many here have. The engineer says it adds stress to the bearings, but probably insignificant. If you don't need to maintain the factory specs to fit in the bed of your truck or on restricted trails, you're probably fine. A simple search should find you all kinds of discussion on this topic here.

Hey guys, just picked up my new P500 last week. I've already put a Moose roof and some mirrors on it. My next addition will be tires and possibly wheels.

Can't decide between 25 or 26's. Mainly looking at the HTR Bear Claws, Bighorns, and the Dirt Tamers. I ride Windrock regualary, so plenty of muddy trail but also plenty of hard pack and asphalt. One of my main concerns is stabilty, since I will have my 7 yr old son with me on the trails. I definatly don't wanna tip over with him. I would like to use the factory wheels but would buy aftermarket wheels if it would provide a noticable difference in stability.

I've learned a lot from this site so far and look forward to joining in, in the future.

Eric
I went with 25inch bighorns for stability and to keep low end torque. Very pleased.

Well I finally got my wheels and tires today. KJ motorsports was out of stock on the 2.0 Bighorns I ordered so they have me a discount on the original Bighorns. I was torn between the two originally so I was happy either way. Anyways, I have my Moose roof, Dabomb windshield, Kolpin gun racks, and Kolpin mirrors on. I have the Honda small back rack bag on the way, probably order turn signals from ezturnsignals.com pretty soon so it will be mostly street legal. Hoping to get to Windrock this weekend to try it out!

Mine is sitting on 30's on 14x7 aftermarket wheels and with stock suspension. I did disconnect and take off the rear sway bar. I dont notice it to be tippy. I would say taking the sway bar off helped stability. So if youre only thinking of bumping the tires up to 25's or 26's you should be plenty stable. Btw, excellent decision on buying the P5!
