Has anyone modified the oem battery box to take a larger battery. Looking to put two Mighty Max YTX30L-BS 30 ah
Batteries in parallel. Only run winch and blower fan on my 1000-5LE. Battery measure’s 6 5/8 x 5 x 6 11/16. Will fit the open box but would require some cutting to fit under hood and in original position. Original battery is almost 4 years old and will have to be replaced soon anyway. No desire for isolator and will not be adding any more accessories. Just looking for more kick with 60 ah.

Not that Ive ever seen. You would be cutting a hole in the original cradle. Most use the typical set up, the std batt for that area and your other batt for the second batt and isolator.
all i could suggest is a second larger batt under the seat. Thats been done before.

Another option is to get a lithium ferrous phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. Lighter weigh, more power density, charges faster. But the real advantage is that you can discharge it much further than a lead acid. You would need to change out the True isolator for their model that's made for lithium batteries (or for a mix of Pb and lithium).

Note that lead acid batteries, for longest life, should not be discharged below 50% and even better if you only take 20% out (leaving 80%!). Lithiums have more useful capacity and are good for many more cycles.
