I have a 1000 LE with the warning placard in the middle of the dash. I was gonna remove it and make a aluminum plate to go there to mount some accessories but thought why not leave it and just paint it. Anyone try that? Thanks

That plate is paper thin, it will still need to be removed to make holes in the dash for you switches or other components. When removing it, it is covered 100% with tape to adhere it. It usually cannot be saved for reuse.
I removed mine for my switch plate. Prior to installing the switch plate I used a carbon fiber decal and cover the area where the placard was removed. Turned out nice.
