I am looking to remove the rear cage on my 1000-5 to help (in my opinion) clean up the look a little bit. I use my machine for more utility than anything so I rarely need the rear cage. I would like to run a hard top roof but, for the reason above, I do not want to buy a 1000-5 hardtop. My question is, does anyone run a 1000-3 roof with the rear cage on? Obviously some trimming would be needed but I feel like this may be the best option for me. I am thinking I could than run the trimmed -3 roof without the rear cage on and then when I need the rear cage I can put it on while leaving the hard top on. Anyone have anything thoughts or pictures?

A few guys run 3 roof on 5 with ROPS removed. Yes light trim on the two rear sides.
I’m not sure I’ve heard of someone running like your asking to do but I’d be pretty certain it wouldn’t be much different.

I am just way to damn indecisive on what route I want to go. I think the rear cage removed is a better setup for utility but then I also think the full roof is much better for trail riding and adventuring. Trying to find the best of both worlds without spending $900 on roofs lol

Maybe run the 3 hard roof and have soft top made for just rear if running the rear part of cage. Like the AlienShade

I’ve seen a 2pc hard top before. That would be ideal for your case if still available

Been there done that, sold the P1-3 roof, and never looked back, bought the P1-5 hard roof, much better, now I have the Alien Shade for dry rides, lots quieter and cooler, going to do what @Landman did and remove the center rop clamps and use the hard roof in the rainy season over the top of the Alien Shade. As far as utility work the back rops will help you haul more brush!;)

A two-piece was another option I was thinking of but I am just having troubles finding any for a reasonable price. What is your thought of running the rear cage with a full roof like most people do? Does it feel clunky or look boxy to you or is it a look you get used to over time. My big thing is that it doesn't look like a typical side by side like a ranger or viking ect that I grew up with and have always been used to. Might just take some getting used too..

You saying my Pioneer looks boxy??!!

Just playing, yeah I felt same thing to start with but I got used to it. Now if I didn’t always have someone in rear seats the rear ROPs would come off because it does indeed look better. Just not an option for me with two kids.

Obviously the 5 full roof is better with multiple people but I’d still run it even if just my wife and I. It’s so nice to have covered box at all times and I definitely prefer it in the woods rolling around trees.
Plus like said the ROPS in the back you can actually get a pretty good payload inside.

That’s exactly what we have, 2 notches in the back and it fits like a charm.

I had the same idea of taking the rear rops off but got used to it and it makes a pretty good rack for hauling lumber ladders etc to the woods.

New member here, I came over from the dark side having owned a couple Polaris Rangers. I wanted to add to the conversion with what I encountered installing the P-3 roof on my P-5 Buggy. I did remove the rear rops because of the interference trying to dump brush with it on. Mine's a 2018 model and when I tried to put the roof on I found the P-3 clamps were for a 43 mm cage. My 2018 has a 45 mm pipe so the clamps wouldn't fit. I was able to order the proper clamps at additional cost though and the roof is on. This was the Honda OEM roof, aftermarket may not be a problem.

Lol :D I don't know why but I think everybody else's modified pioneer look more natural with the full rops. Like you had mentioned, I think it is something that look good, especially once you get used to it. For now at least it will likely only be me and my girlfriend riding in it unless we are at fair or tractor pulls ect and at that point there still would be no reason from a rear cage since that's essentially just flat ground. I do see however that I would love this feature once I bring kids into my life.
