P1000 Pioneer 1000-5 cooler rack build

Spent the last couple evenings working in my shop building a rear cargo/cooler rack for my pioneer. Not too bad for a harbor freight bottle Jack pipe bender. 👍🏻

this is the bender I have, it is definitely time consuming and really does not like thin wall tubing but with some frustration and patience it can be done.

And just used a cordless drill and a hole saw for making the all the other pieces

If i was doing it, I'd spend a lot of time on the paint. Make sure it's prepped really well and maybe use epoxy frame paint. I would think that would hold up well. I guess you could powdercoat too, but that will cost more and I have found that powdercoated parts tend to fade over time when exposed to sunlight.

What a great setup you made and very versatile. I made my own last spring when the pandemic hit and it sure adds alot of space in the rig for kids, dogs, and snacks. It worked so well that on a steep ride up to an old mining site my 9 year old got tired riding his 110 motorcycle. I was thinking I would just jump on it and ride it but came up with a better idea, and put the dirt bike on the rack and hauled it that way. Great work and you will definitely enjoy having it.

Thankfully I didn’t have much waste and didn’t have to remake any pieces long the way so that was nice 👍🏻

Nice! It is really nice being able to make stuff to suite our own needs. This one should work well for us between hauling the cooler, small fuel can and a spare or firewood back to our cabin 👍🏻
