Hi everyone. Just got a new 1000-5 . The manual says to do the first service at 100 miles or 20 hours. I was at 6 hours and 106 miles and my dealer said they recommend getting closer to 20 hours. I'm at 16 hours and 240 miles now. Had a guy tell me I should have done it at 100 . Is it going to affect anything since I went 140 miles over( all pavement riding)? Hope my dealer was right and not the other guy.

I went over a little on our first service as well. When I did service, all oils were clean like new and I didn't notice any metal flakes in any of it either.

I just called the dealer in our area for first service and to my shock, this cost $349. Heck I pay $150 for my MB E350 service and they do more than the work for a little Honda Pioneer. If this is what it costs to own this, I will sell it.

How much you want for it?

Its ok to be over some. But I think 280 miles is a little much personally.
I place more value on miles than hours. Book states "whichever comes first". But it also says its the "recommended guidelines"
Anywhere between 80-150 miles is where I usually do the change.
Anyways, your machine will be fine. Get it changed and ride on.

Also, $350 is not a bad price for a full first service. Its a lot of work if they did all the recommendations.
If they just did an oil change, then maybe $100-120

Let Stealer do the 1st one ! You do them from now on, just document and keep receipts for products that you purchase. You are now within limitations of warranty plus you get to do it yourself and then know it was right.

I just had mine done. It was $356. I'm ok with that. The fluids were changed. They checked the valves, said they were a bit tight, so they adjusted them. My shift cables were adjusted. Like I said I'm good with it, but I will be doing the following ones myself.
