Hello all - I’m picking up a 2021 Pioneer 520 in 3 weeks. The idea is to haul the machine around in my truck bed exclusively. I have a 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.5ft bed. I realize the tailgate will likely have to be down. My primary concern is…the distance between my wheel wells is 48 inches…the machine is 50 inches. Any feedback? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the feedback. You have a 500 with an 8ft bed.

Again, I have an F-250 with a 6.5ft bed…48” wheel well to wheel well. Any additional input is greatly appreciated.

P500 with 1.5" spacers fit in my 6.5 GMC bed with tailgate down. I believe I drive over the wheelwells with the spacers on. Back tires rest on tailgate.

As noted on the other threads: heavy duty ramps, tailgate supports, and 1.5 or 2" straps.

when you drive over 48in. wheel wells, doesnt the lower frame(ropes) then hit the wheel wells?

I read somewhere on here at one point that the factory stance is actually 48" in the front and 50" in the back. Not sure if thats true or not. Id measure mine but I have aftermarket wheels and tires now. Fits in my silverado (50" inside fender well-fender well) despite being 52 wide. Kind of drives up over and squeezes in between at the same time. I have a piece of plywood that runs the length of the box to distribute the weight resting on the tailgate. 6.5" box

It'll fit. You'll probably drive over the wells a bit, but it'll fit. Sorry, this is the only pic I took when I had my F350 w/6.5 ft bed. Like others said, you'll be at or near the tailgate hinge. I used small ramps on the cab end to raise up the front so the wheels will rest pressing on the front. You'll get a few more inches that way.

Putting small ramps in the front of the box to raise the front end up so the tires hit first, might just be the extra 2 or 3 inches I will need to get the tailgate closed on my F150 8' box. Hopefully.

I wasn't able to close the box in my 6.5 ft, but I was able to pull the tailgate up against the back tires allowing for the trailer tongue clearance. I'm betting an 8ft box will close with the front ramps.

Mine does not, but I am running 27" Tusk terrabites, so the added height might be the trick. It is very close to fitting inbetween the wheel wells.

Also +1 to the titan ramps comment. I use the 9 or 10' long, extra wide ramps. Pricey, but solid and safer. Expensive ramps are cheaper than damage to your truck and machine plus a new pair of shorts...

I only haul in the truck bed when pulling my camper at the same time, otherwise I trailer the P500.
