It looks pretty flat on top. Are you worried about water pooling on top of it?

I’m not too concerned about water
It doesn’t sit outside. And if it does
It looks pretty flat on top. Are you worried about water pooling on top of it?

Thought about it and with this type of roof experiment I accepted that I may get a wet lap once in a while.

OK let it dry for around 24 hours it was still a little bit tacky in some spots but most of it was dry I apply the second coat tonight and it went on a lot smoother still used a little bit more than a half gallon of fiberglass resin you can tell on the first pass that some of the fleece material didn’t take a lot of resin but on the second pass it soaked it up.
Since I have the plastic draped over the rollbar first I put a space heater in there since I ran out of propane last night hopefully the heat overnight into the next day will help it cure a little bit faster hopefully In two days I will post my kid standing on the roof fingers crossed hopefully

Here is 2 heavy coats of fiberglass resin sanded down doesn’t have to be flat obviously you could see the inconsistency of the two coats
Picked up more fiberglass matting going to spread it over the entire top and it’s more coats take a little bit longer to dry but this second coat one a lot easier and I Soum the third coat with a fiberglass matting will give it a smooth top I’ll post when I get to it

Looking good. Have you thought about a raised batman emblem?

So for the third coat went and bought four packs of the fiberglass mesh I stretch three out keeping the last one for the final coat hopefully the final coat will give a hardness where am I have to go and get another gallon of fiberglass resin until it’s tough enough for the trails here is before and after the third coat

I’m not that technically inclined to do the raused Batman emblem

Food for thought if you wanted to go and get you them LED weatherproof strips I would imagine they’d be fairly easy to embed into the roof that’s something I might end up doing

You could trace the symbol onto some cardboard, transfer that to some 3/4 plywood, cut it out with a jigsaw and fiber over it. I like the batman theme but it seems you were just using the nearest old blanket that you had around. Never mind me, just trying to make more work for you! LOL!

It was a busy Friday for me finally got time to put more measure on the outside edges of the rollbar and apply the fiberglass resin on it I will let that dry and then I will ply another coat over everything let it dry and then probably use a bedsheet for the final top layer and use fiberglass resin the seal it in

OK I removed 2 x 4’s all around the sides rough cut the excess off on all four sides then threw back on the machine in the fit is just about perfect I will still have to take material off the sides
It’s still working progress and I still have to do some work

Next I will take it back off the machine spread bid sheet over top of it and put another heavy coat of fiberglass resin on it
I’ll be away for two weeks and I will be posting the final fit and how I’m going to secure to the rollbars

Yes it is definitely stiff but seems flexible and I may resin the bottom-side facing riders with a coat of resin
Or resin in some sort of interior support
Not sure yet I like that one person can move it around easily
But more coatings of resin will only help
