I decided to go with Gbc Mongrel 27" tires. One question, What are the pros and cons of having the same size tires front and rear "27x9x12" vs having 27x9x12 front and 27x11x12 rear? I'm debating getting the same size so I can rotate them as they wear. Thanks as always for your help.

On the 700 the pro is you can rotate the same size tire. The cons are the wider front tire drifts more on fast corners.and you can't really go 28s but not really a big issue on a 700. See I went 28/9/14 fronts and 28/12/14 If I had to do it all over again I might have went all same size. But with 2000 miles on these tires I have even wear on front and backs. I don't run a lot of pavement, or turn hard on pavement. I think you will be happy with your decision. Just getting off the stock tires are an enormous advantage.

So if I went 27x9x12 on all four, it wouldn't be too small on the back? I do alot of dirt road riding and really don't want to do much mudding anymore. Got the mudding out of my system when I was younger. The trails where I ride are sandy or if there is mud it usually has a hard bottom.

Some one else will chime in soon. But I think you would be better off with 27/10/12 on all four corners. I have seen a few guys do 9" wides but they did look too skinny

Ok I was wondering if it would look wimpy on the back. They only have 9" or 11" in the 27's. Might have to go with 9" front and 11" back. I will wait for opinions and probably order them tonight. Thank you.

I have 27s and I agree with swsebek 9 Inch looks a little to narrow on rear to me also. I would have went same all around but I was afraid they would rub but now I see it would have been fine, next time I probably will do tens all around. I 'll walk out and get a pick for you

27 9 12 on front 27 10 on rear If I would have known how much room I would have it would have 10s all around so l could rotate them.

haven't heard much good stuff about gbc tires though. itp, maxxis, brigger brands give vibration free ride with no need to balance that much, long life good handling, you really get what you pay for and cheap tires are just that. bfg makes a mud terrain that a lot of people like for gravel.

Tim, you said you don't really mud and just ride gravel roads. I recommend tusk terabytes or maxxis bighorn is what I run.

No they are not and they ride pretty good I am not a mud person but but what little it has been in it has done very well and they have been very good on rock I just liked their looks and wanted to try something different. I almost bought CST clincher thought they looked good to. They they are who makes bighorns on the sidewall it will say Cheng shin tire

My first choice was the Tusk Terrabites, but changed my mind when I read that they are not true to size (people have said they are 26" not 27"). Maybe I'm being to picky. Time to rethink my choice.

Do you have enough power to turn them?
I have the zillas which are lighter not as aggressive as outlaws but yes it turns them just fine not gonna sling mud everywhere but she pulls through just fine

I understand your tire uncertainty I also like every thing perfect. But from what you describe bighorn 2.0 would make you very happy but there are many very good tires out there . I am sure you will like whatever you buy.
