Probably a dumb question, but I’ve looked all over trying to find the right plastic clips after I broke a few removing the cowling over the air filter... the clips that you press in the center to unlock.

Want to buy a bunch since I’m sure I’ll break more. The screw in type are fine too... just need the right size.

Thanks! Amazed how helpful this forum has been already.

I get that...

Some folks have found some suitable substitutes at the hardware section of the big box stores...

Others will chime in I am certain...

Try EBAY. Enter the Honda part number in the search and usually you will find many options for quanity much cheaper than dealer prices for individual pieces.

After the dealer did the 100 mile service, the day after i bought it...they lost a few when I checked out their work. I asked the guy is he had any clips to replace the ones missing and he said yes, parts sells them in the store. F them! I guess that's why I kept the 10 mm Snap On deep socket I found in the seats when I got home.

For the record, I only owned the machine for 12 hours at this point, they lost all the clips!

I replaced the pushpin style with the standard plastic rivets that Honda uses everywhere else. They work fine for me.
You know that’s probably a better idea if they’ve been holding fine. Would allow even better resistance to breaking plastics if something was hit.

Those pushpins style seem to be a harder more brittle plastic. I think the original rivets are stronger. I may be wrong about that but I just don’t understand why the pushpin style was used. They are easier to install and remove but they seem to be a looser fit.

I bought 100 count package of the rivets on Amazon for just a couple peanuts and never looked back.

Just to clarify, which ones are we talking about? The ones you have to push in the center to remove, or the ones you have to pull out the insert?

I’m sure either will be fine but this is what I use. Not sure if it’s the exact same one I bought but it’s this style.

Make sure you get 8mm size. Not the 10mm

Thanks all! I guessed on some from Napa yesterday and they were too small... might try Ace on the way home tonight. Definitely need a 100 pack laying around as I'm clearly prone to breaking or losing them when they fly across the garage.

To answer the original question, if it's like the Honda part #90653-HC4-900 then the diameter is 8 mm with a 20 mm stem. I found many suppliers on the net by simply using the Honda part number as my search.
