Changed all my fluids at about 200 miles, everything went fine except the rear drain plug that used to tell you it’s full, I tried torque it to 9 ft pounds and it just would’nt reach it, but it felt semi snug so no problems, we got in a deep puddle this past weekend so I decided to take a look at fluids and make sure no water got in no where, everything looked fine but that screw is not tightening up now, it’s semi snug but will not reach a firm spot, need help on fixing

Was it firm before you hit 9lbs?
Get a new bolt and install it. If that doesn't help then you need to hunt down a tap if it can even be tapped in place.

Thus why I don't use or recommend torque wrenches except for critical engine components.
I can't stress enough about NOT using one on the oil filter bolts.
Looking at it more, this bolt is in the same category.
No reason at all you need to break out a torque wrench.
Just tighten it up good and snug.

Sorry about your troubles.

No, didn’t loose the washer, never made it to 9 lbs, if I helicore it what size do I use and how do you keep the metal shavings out .
It never firmed up, just kept turning, i did put some Teflon on it and a second washer behind crush washer cause it felt firmer before bottoming it out, got it pretty firm like that but don’t know if it will leak

+1.

I‘m 75 and haven‘t used a torque wrench other than critical assemblies like engines since a good ole boy told me to pay attention, you can feel when it quits turning, just a LITTLE past that. I was about 10 at the time. Use a small 1/4” ratchet for small fasteners. Torque wrenches are too long for small fasteners, you’re in trouble before you know you’re in trouble.

I was told to tap it out to a m10- it’s a m8 now, I ordered a m10x1.25 plug with copper washer and magnet , anyone else do this before I try it

I'd be ok with that. For the SAE guys that's 5/16" to 3/8". The other option is a helicoil or time-sert and I think going oversize is less complicated and quicker.

I think so too , ordered 2 bottles of diff fluid so I could flush it out a little, my only worry is shavings getting in there, but with them being aluminum I can’t see it hurting much

Yeah, I have a hard time getting anal about a few aluminum chips floating around steel gears myself. Not the best, but no need for panic either.
