I have a Talon X-4 Live valve suspension.
It does ok.
I wondering if anyone has changed one out or certain parts of to make it better?

need pics and year - you are referring to changing out parts on the suspension

no clue on the new Showa stuff, but things u may try;

-disconnect sway bar - unless you are rally racing - really not needed and softens it up
-run as low air pressure as you can get away with - more springy from the tires
-get rid of the stupid football nipple bleeders if u have them and put schrader valves in

these are band aids that help stop the bleeding

-the talons are notoriously harsh - which means Honda kinda blew it out of the box - if you are looking for a really good comfy ride - revalve\springs......

Just got my 2024 Talon X with the new showa suspension. It rides like straight up s***. It's barely better than my old P-500. So pissed I can hardly think straight. WTF is wrong with honda engineers? Anyways, I'm open to suggestions. Haven't had a chance to dig into this yet, but I'm not seeing anything on a quick search for aftermarket spring upgrades that specifically apply to the 2024 showa shocks, and I call them 'shocks' cuz that's what you get even running over a 1" stick on the trail. The ride is DESPICABLE. The rear tender springs are sitting in coil bind with no load in the machine- essentially solid spacers... adjusting the damping settings makes no appreciable change at all. Tires down to 8 psi. Sway bar disconnected. My next letter is to honda customer service

Still with Showa shocks tho, that's what the main complaint was about.
I actually talked to a guy with a brand new (2024)R model 2 seat yesterday. The rear suspension set up is significantly different from the X set up, but also has the showa shocks. He said his rides really good, and follows the terrain well.

bummer after dropping that much coin on a new ride and it rides like crap.

sorry you are at Stage 2 of grief over the Talon suspension.

Give someone like G-Force or FCR Racing a call and see what they can do for you if you want to spend more money on making it rideable/comfortable.

This is the first report on the new Showa stuff I have seen with no BS about the ride quality. Everyone else is reporting it is a joy.

I was at the same point with my ‘19X, complete disbelief - ended up dropping the coin for valving and springs. Dumped a 2012 RZR XP for the Talon and that XP machine was literally like floating over the terrain on a cloud, so I get the frustration going backwards 20 years.

Thanks man! Ya, I need a couple days to calm down and make some calls. I drove a new RZR here at the resort a couple years ago. (my friends operate the rental dept.) It rode like a marshmallow- it's what I kind of expected from a Talon.

Apparently the LV X 2 seat model also rides like s***, but maybe not as bad as the showa shock version. And I'm essentially out of money for toys.
I rode in and drove, a '23 X2 LV and it rode noticeably better than my '21 R2 non LV. One big difference between them was his larger and wider 32" tires (I'm running 30"). I was impressed. If my R rode as good as his X LV, I'd be happy.

Yes. And mine is the 2 seat X model
You should have drove my 21’ X2 with the stock Fox shocks🤣, you would have loosened your fillings. 😳 All this has been discussed on the forum for years to help folks know what they are buying unless you drive it before you sign papers.

Not sure about the Showa’s cuz they are relatively new to the Talon and the forum, but in the X2 with fox’s you can with a little or alot of cash make it quite the plush riding/handling machine like Ive done to mine. I know it sucks to not buy it that way, but Honda has done this for years, even with the whole Pioneer line up its no secrete.
Your closer than most to Weller Racing, Id give them a shout and see if they have anything or suggestions to help you make that rig a nice one of a kind machine like mine and many are.
Make sure to come back and let us know who and what you did. Good luck.

The suspension is fixable, a CVT is not.

Once you get it sorted, the dual range, six speed, paddle shiftin' dirt kart is more fun than should be legal. It's as close as I'll ever come to owning a trophy truck -

once it’s set up correctly/improved/whatever u wanna call it the herky jerky throttle will be improved

genius move to disconnect sway bar - that helps

no suspension guru but my hunch is those top springs are just to keep bottom spring from flopping around at full extend

I have no idea what the differences are between the valving profiles of a 21 and the newer but I serviced the shocks on a 21 fox and was a little surprised at the rebound side of the shim stack on the rears. they defiantly seem to be set up for faster riding.
