On final power hookup for my Viper Widespool 4500 Elite, I have a choice to make when I hook it up to my 2nd battery

Direct to battery???? or

Protected by just the 80 amp CB???? Or

Protected by the 80 amp CB AND my KEY ON STINGER?????

Instructions imply direct to battery with no protections????
Thx

80 amps is not enough. It will pull closer to 200+ and full strain.

Either
1- get a larger breake
Or
2- direct to the battery.

Edit.
300 amps at max 4500lb pull.
Also note, you won't often (or ever) be pulling 4500lbs at the first layer of rope.

I’m still a little confused???(normal condition)
The power leads on the 4500 Viper look like 8awg copper.
I went larger to 6awg to power the distribution panel that I built.

Based on the amperage max charts.... how do either sizes handle 200-300 amps????
Here the charts I referenced.

What I’m saying is the small 7.5mm wire is the one that comes with the winch. (Pic above) The larger one is my 6AWG... so 7.5mm must be the equivalent size of about 8AWG.

Max amps for 8 ga wire is only 45 amps.
About 60 amps max for 6AWG.

I just wonder how the factory expects 200-300 amps to be OK.

REMEMBER... IM THE ROOKIE😃😃😃😃
Just wondering what I’m missing
THANKS

PS:
Please check the store forum.... my HondaSXS key on harness doesn’t provide power on my 2018 P700-4. I posted there.

thx again

There are different charts, you have to consider max continuous current, voltage, and length of cable. A #6 copper cable will be fine for your winch. I have #8 copper on a 3000# winch, and have maxed it out so much that the steel cable unravelled/birdcaged, and the wiring didnt have any problems.
6 gauge, 4' long, is good for 200 amps
